that would be good. I just joined CBA/ABATE of NC. They have a pretty good agenda, not just trying to get rid of a helmet law like most, but trying to instill motorcycle awareness in the state driver training programs. Informing the soon to be drivers that there really ARE motorcycles out there and what to watch for! What a concept. Thay have already had the local govm't put up "look out for motorcycles" signs up at some precarious intersections.
Great.
Our local ABATE meets once per month. A lot of people don't go to meetings, this leaves a lot of us out in the dark.
A forum section for all Motorcycle activists would be seriously powerful if ran right.
IE who to write letters to. What phones numbers for what agencies.
What is the newest bill/legeslation is being concidered or not.
Some place that all of this can fit under.
Something to get us involved.
Good idea... are you gonna hold the position and post the info? I am sure there are a lot of ABATE members here that would like to keep current on the legal issues. Great idea
I am sure that this will be placed in the political forum after awhile. But I am serious! We need to Motorcycle Activist forum where members can take part in their rights as motorcycle riders. We have a lot of members here and we should be a loud voice.

Even though most of you, on this board, are American and I'm Canadian I think we, as "bikers", "motorcycle enthusiastsâ or whatever have a lot of the same beliefs. Your government is doing the same to you as my government is doing to âusâ. If we could get over the chaps, fingerless gloves, whoâs a real biker / whoâs a rub issues and stood together then I think we would be heard, there are allot of âusâ.
In Ontario weâve already lost our right of due process, freedom of speech and freedom of association. They have made the police accuser, judge / jury and executioner and we cannot even appeal their decision. Even arguing with a cop can bring a $250.00 to $5000.00 fine, the amount is set by the cop you argue with and there is no recourse, whatever he/she says, your fined. There is NO trial, NO appeal, just pay and do as your told.
For us it may be to late, DO NOT let it happen down there. Iâve been trying to inform people, get them to vote, get off their asses and do something, but up here we are a country of sheeple, nobody wants to do anything because the law only effects a few select groups (so they think) and they, the government, would never apply these laws to everyone else. We have the most honest cops and there is not one that would use the power of their badge to further their own agendas (yea, right).
Stand together while you can and make your opinions heard.
I will do my very best. I will try to to get information and contact info as well.
Has anyone ever seen the numbersUSA website? The actually have a clickable bulletin board that sends faxes out to congressmen/women and seneters with premade information. A kind of click here and we will send out the info for you sight.
I don't think we can do this yet(?) but at least someplace where we can see what the issues are and who to contact. And how to contact.
Our voice can have the potential to be really loud and I think we should give it a shot.

www.mrf.org is the website for the Motorcycle Rider's Foundation. The MRF is the voice of ABATE and other SMRO's regarding federal issues. Every SMRO has an agenda that goes beyond fighting helmet laws, but there's enough riders (this forum included) that don't look past the prejudicial evaluation of "the anti-helmet harley guys" ABATE of Illinois goes beyond other ABATEs in the area in the fact that the majority of issues over the last 7-8 years have been regarding off-road issues. Surrounding states have separate organizations regarding dirtbikes and ATV's. Tang, WORRA is a supporting member of the MRF as well.

I've personally had great conversations with the MRF pres. Hardtail, VP in D.C. Hennie and VP Boz is a personal friend of mine for many years. We worked many campaigns together whether it was ringing doorbells, putting up yard signs, passing leaflets at commuter stations, etc. I can't help but stress to spare a couple hours away from the bar or whatever to work a campaign. Try to scrape up the dough to buy a $100 a plate dinner so you can rub the right elbows. This shows you mean business and puts a face on the other end of the phone when you need to state your point of view on any issue. I have an upcoming legislative day while many will be at Daytona, with as many officials that I have to see, many times I only get to chat with the receptionist until the later hosted cocktails. Guess who answers the phone when you call about an upcoming piece of legislation? Guess who's vote yes on HB..../SB.... or no on.... gets logged? Almost all have some type of common ground with you, thats just sales/diplomacy 101. At last year's reception, I was throwing a few back with a senator who pushed a helmet bill several years back. We staged an awareness ride which featured a pose of about 100 bikers in front of his office next to his name sign flipping him the bird! It was supposed to be private, but one passenger from the HOG chapter was a journalism student and had the photo published in her college newletter. Which he got a copy of! The look on his face was priceless when I told him I was the organizer and picked his office for the ride. I also staged the photo.
