I think you already know what your answer is, but probably don't want to accept it. How much do you need the money? If you really don't then either give them to your 'friend' or make it a ridiculously low $ amount.

I tried to give a buddy of mine one of those little roller thingys that you put under a tire so that you can rotate the tire while cleaning it. He wanted to pay me for it, so I took $5 for it. The next time we had lunch together I paid for the beer. Problem solved.

I wouldn't sell them. I'd keep 'em so I could put them back on when I trade.

That's why Dickey never sells take-off parts.

I sold the wheels and tires from my 2010 ltd to a friend for $700. I installed new wheel bearings in both wheels before I sold him the wheels. So I suppose I netted somewhere a little south of $600. I also let the rotors go with the wheels since I didn't need them because I was installing Agitators. The front wheel had floating rotors. So I believe he got a good deal.

Friend or not, I didn't want him to have any issues because he was going to do the 4 corners ride with those wheels. He did change out one of the tires before he left. He rode 12,000+ miles on them during the 4 corners excursion with no issues (as it should be).

I only have 2 friends--one is in Alabama and one is in Korea right now--returning to NC. I know many say "give them" to the friend. That's cool---but both of my friends wouldn't even allow me to do that. They would refuse "free" and would even look up the item on eBay or something to see the going rate and then stuff the money in my pocket. I guess it's because they're financially sound guys. However, if my friend wasn't financially sound---I'd give them to him because we've served in combat 3 times together. Problem is----I bet the OP is referring to an acquaintance and that's different. I have many of them I've known for many years----I'm selling to them with a discount that's lower than the going rate. Problem is---those acquainances would "expect" them for free. That's the difference between my friends and acquaintances. In most circumstances, I'd lie to the acquaintance and say I have a buyer because I hate dealing with people who "expect"

A true friend gets out of bed no questions asked and will come and get you on the side of the road half a state away at 3 am

A brother will help you hide a body no questions asked

An acquaintance would do neither and deserves a business like trancaction

I only have one true friend, I would just give them to him. He would accept them but would soon do or give me something in return. And its not like I would say, ok Ill give you them if you give me this, I would just give them to him. A couple weeks later there may be a surprise UPS package on my doorstep

Like many others, I would probably give them to a good true friend. If they refused to take them that way (which has happened) then I would say pay me what you feel it's worth and go from there. I am not really well off in any means, better than some, worse than others, but when it comes to that stuff, I rather do the best deal possible. Who knows, next year he may have something I want and can return the favor.

I'm glad this subject has come up. A friend of mine was in my shop the other day and saw something that I'm thinking of getting rid of and wanted it. Its a MC dolly by the way. I have been thinking about whether I should sell or give it to him. This guy will give and do anything in the world for me. He a very genuine, great person. I'm not sure if he would want me "giving" it to him. After reading this thread I have made the decision to go home and get the dolly and I think I will just set in in the back of his truck and not say anything to him. If he doesn't notice it by the time he gets home I will call and let him know its back there. Good friends are worth much more than I could ever get out of that piece of equipment.
