IDK why but shows up on my end. Just a puter thing I guess. This should work (I hope). BTW I have contacted them as everything says 2006 and up but a previous thread I started here confirmed it would work on my 01.

For the OP and others having trouble with the link, here is a link to the Akropovic Open 2 into 1 in black .... at a much better price ... have seen them over time around this price in both chrome and black .... I too really like the look for certain of our bikes [RKC I'm lookin at you] ... but would really like to hear from people who have actually put one on first ....

Default Look Great but very LOUD!

I fitted the Akraprovic system to show off the set of wire wheels I had fitted to the bike and because I believe in 'loud pipes do save lives'. I then went on a 3,430 mile round trip to Carins in Queensland from my home in Sydney. This was a mistake, these pipes are LOUD and as you can see from the photograph the outlet of the system is below your right ear. I had the Akraprovic baffle fitted too! I ride with ear plugs and have for years, had I not there would have been issues in the right ear for sure. As you can see I also run a bat wing fairing with a stereo and the sound from the system would get 'caught' in the cockpit overpowering the audio system. On the return journey from Carins I got 105 miles from home and I was pulled over by a cop for excessive noise. I have been riding bikes for a quarter of a century nearly everyone of my bikes has had a modified system fitted and never an issue with the police.
On the plus side the system looks great no two ways about it, the fit and finish of the system is second to none. When I picked up the bike after the system was fitted from the workshop in my local dealer the manager came out and we were talking and he said that he fits lots of systems but the quality of this unit would be the best by far.
In short the system is great around town, but on the highway with long miles the noise is relentless.

Red face

Akropovic is well known for quality products, but there is no way I would install one like that! I can hear Iron's bike from the UK, just lookin' at his photos. Now if they produced a system that went out to the back of the bags I might be more interested.

Many apologies Graham you are probably right about hearing this system in the UK and due to the time difference you would probably be in bed too, so sorry about that.
On a serious note I should have mentioned I put the stock system back on the bike till I visited the EPA after getting pinged by the police. Then this seemed to change into a set of Kuryakyn Crusher 4" Mellows which put the outlet well behind me past the saddle bags same as the stock units. These slip-ons have a good note and bark well when you crack the throttle. The fit and the finish is good though I have noticed I'm getting a little corrosion in the baffling inside the pipe. The chrome comes up well with a polish however.

Thanks and they do look great on that bike and the black would look great on mine as it will be painted a charcoal sort of color. As far as the noise I can appreciate that but wonder how much louder they are than the V&H Big Radius true duals that basically end in the same place, maybe a tad bit more towards the rear. I have that setup currently on my Road Glide and although friends tell me it is no louder than the RC Excalibur which I have had on my Road King it seems twice as loud to me riding the bike. Will have to search YouTube I guess when I get a chance...
