Default Adjustable Backrest Install Question

Bought a used backrest from a forum member and could'nt be happier with the transaction, and I think I'll like it more than the standard backrest. I installed it on my 1999 Eglide under a street glide seat. My question is, did I do something wrong with puting it together, because the mount seems to be flush with the top of the seat. The mount is completly hidden under the stock seat. Everything functions as it should, it just looks a little goofy. I'm sure others are using this backrest on streetglide seats as the pad has the street glide style cover. Do I just live with it, or is there something I can change?

Its probably for the new frame? May not fit right on yours.

can you post a pic or two? We're talking rider seat, not passenger, right?

I should have been clearer; it's the rider backrest. I may have misunderstood the advertisement, but I thought I was buying a backrest for the pre 09 frame. The pictures in the pdf instructions I used (specificaly for pre 09 bikes) also seemed correct for the parts I have. I was hoping a street glide owner might have an answer or comment.

I meant can you take a couple pictures of your installed bracket/seat/backrest so we can see the "mis-match" you're referring to. My 06 backrest looks like the 09 and later; but my bracket isn't "cable-adjustable" like the newer versions. I figured it would be a drop in replacement improvement...apparently not?

I have it on my street glide and it is pretty close to flush. When I don't have the backrest in, I cover it with the strap. looks fine.

Had one on a '12 SG with stock seat. I say top of bracket was 1/2"-1" below the seat surface.

Street Glide seats are thinner, less meat you might say. So yes the bracket could very well be close to flush and be correct.

Thanks a lot for the feed back guys. I guess misery loves company, because I feel better knowing others have the same issue with the mount being visible. Now I just need to figure out a way to cover it when I'm not using the backrest.
