I want extra lighting for my new SGS. Extra on the rear possibly the strip kind and the accent lighting for the fairing. Lemme have some suggestions and about how many $$$ is the ole boy gonna be out. bear in mind this is new territory for me.
Here's what I did to mine--my primary goal was better visibility for myself (at night) and better visibility to other motorists day and night.
- H-D Daymaker Reflector headlight ($320). Best money I've spent on the bike, period.
- Custom Dynamics Dynamic Ringz on the front turn signals. ($80) Awesome, and are very visible during the daytime. Great match to the Daymaker.
- Custom Dynamics LED turn signals to replace the rear 1157 bulbs. ($70)
- 8" Plasma Rods from Custom Dynamics. I'm using these as brake only, they are super bright and look AWESOME. I fabbed a couple steel brackets to mount them, but there are cheaper ways to do it. ($130)
- Custom Dynamics Magic Strobe controller for the Plasma Rods...do a great job of grabbing attention of other vehicles. ($45)
- Custom Dynamics BCM Plug and Play Universal Adapter. This harness plugs in-line with the factory harness and provides all the tap points you might need without cutting or tapping into the factory harness. Worth the money, IMO. ($30).
- 4 smoke bullet lens covers. ($8)
I love my setup...not cheap but I think it does a great job of providing visibility both for me and OF me, more importantly.

Here's a couple pics...hard to get good shots because everything is so bright it washes out the pics.
Here is a great thread about adding the CD lights and Plasma Rods...I manufactured brackets like the OP used to install his Plasma Rods. I may add the Plugz from CD as well to fill the antenna holes and add even more light to the back of my ride...
Ditto on the CD lamps.... CD front and rears, plasma rods, and trucklite for headlamp. I like the brighter look....more attention grabbing i think. go on line and check the Custom Dynamics web site....

I have the same set up on my 09 SG plus the Kuryaken driving lights. Total illumination front and rear. Have had many people tell me how bright they are. Bright = more visible = increased safety.
