Default Windshield Scratch Help!
While cutting down and sanding my shield I put a 4" scratch on the shield. Is there any technique/product that will remove a scratch?

Hard to describe depth. You can vaguely feel it with fingernail.

There are a lot of plastic polishes available from auto part stores.If you can feel it with your finger nail,you might as well live with it or buy a new windshield.

just cut 2 more inches off of it.

I just did the same thing cutting the shield on my Roadking. Not quite as bad as yours. I too am wondering what to try.

Go with whatever brand of toothpaste that you prefer or score some Jewelers Rouge along with a small handheld orbital/random polisher. It may take a little while but it'll polish out to almost nothing.

If that is a HD factory clear shield, its made from Lexan with a hard coating on it. The scratch looks like its through the hard coating & into the base material. If it is, it can not be polished out... you'll just remove more hard coating.

-Clear detailing wax will hide it for awhile. Just reapply often
-Same for various polishes like Plexus or Novus
-Clear finger nail polish applied with a very fine brush will work as a filler but usually ends up looking worse

Nothing I know of will be a permanent repair

for the next guy...it is WAY easier to cut the bottom, hidden edge on a batwing windscreen.

rotozip/dremel/jigsaw.

minutes.
