So the results are in!! 12 hp increase and 5 fp of torque gain with the Rinehart 4" slip ons and a proper tune. However, the power curve has been displaced a little and though I've gained some overall power, I've lost some on the bottom end. Less torque and hp up until 3k, then more on the top end.
The bike is running good and I've achieved the results I wanted but also made some sacrifices. I can def feel the loss of low end torque. It's not drastic but it is noticeable. And it's quieter which is what I wanted. But the Rineharts are almost too quiet! Ah well.. So it begins. The quest for the perfect combination of exhaust tone and power. I've got a long road ahead of me!

The guy who worked on the bike said the same thing about 2-into-1's and how you get more performance from that kind of setup. May be something to look into in the future.

And I just may do that before the next go round. The local indy shop here is pretty good as well... I prob should have picked their brain first before going with these mufflers.
I'm attaching the dyno sheet so you guys can take a look at the results. The red line is the first run with the old mufflers and the blue line is with the Rineharts.

is that a 4th gear pull? That dip is pretty significant.
2:1 in most cases will always wind up with better performance but.. they have that inherent TQ dip with them.
You don't mention what head pipe you're using. That makes all the difference in the world. You also make no mention of the tuning device.
IMO the best advice you've been given here is talking to Steve @ Fullsac. I chased and chased, threw good money after bad, looking for that infamous power and sound combination over the past 2 years. I've probably spent no less than $4000 on exhaust setups and combinations and tuning. What ultimately worked for me was a Fullsac DX pipe, 4" 2012 CVO cans, Fullsac 2.25" power cores, only used 1/2 of the stock baffle wrap. PERFECT look, PERFECT sound (nice low deep rumble, barks when you get on it but excellent tone when cruising), PERFECT performance.
I'll be in Lafayette Saturday but not on the bike otherwise you could hear these. Do you get to Houston often?

Those mufflers are to restrictive or that tune is way off. Get yourself a set of crusher mellows. They will be nice and quiet with a deep note. Mellows will make the numbers.
Doing that to a set of straight pipes is one thing.....but fokking up a nice set of mufflers is quite another particularly when a different set of baffles will produce the desired result.
For what it's worth, my 05 Classic had 4" Rineharts on the stock header pipe when I got it. One day on the highway the brake side muffler spit the baffle out. I contacted Rinehart about a new baffle. It turns out that at some point in time (08?) they had a design change for this very reason. They sent me a brand new set for free. The kicker? The new style end cap now has a through bolt that retains the baffle. So I don't see where anything is getting fokked up. They are, however, loud.

I did post the head pipes and tuner along with the other mods but it was a few replies into the thread. It's got vance and Hines dual headers and the tuner is a power commander 3. I'm not sure what gear the pull was done in, and yes, the dip is pretty steep. I can feel the loss in the low end.
I do make it to Houston from time to time and would like to check out your setup. I'll let you Know next time I'm over there. I'll be headed to Galveston saturday for the rally, the same day you're headed to Lafayette.

Been following along and have seen this dip many times. Here is a map I put together that I believe will help you in this area. Usually the maps are too lean and don't have enough timing here to work. If you richen without increasing timing it will sure enough get flat and dip worse. If you add timing it will ping. What I do is add timing and fuel and it usually works. I have errored to the rich side to be safe. If you decide to try it let me know how it goes. If problem with map send the details. If you had rather just send PM with email and we can communicate via email. the file is zipped so you will need to unzip. Can't send the .djm extension on forum.

So I've been riding it for a couple of days and I'm really regretting my decision. I think I was being optimistic about the loss of torque.. It's pretty severe. When I twist the throttle it's pretty much just not there until I cross 3k which means any and all the time that I'm cruising. Also, the bike stalled on me this morning while idling and almost didn't start back up. Not good.
I may try that tune.. Or I may just call Fullsac like a couple of you suggested. I've wasted over a grand on the mufflers and tune and now I've got a bike that performs less and stalls on me. That sucks.
