Question Screwed The Pooch!!!

Well like the title says I screwed the pooch on this one. "This one" bieng my thunderheader install. I have a pretty good size exhaust leak where the rear header bolts into the jug. I am pretty sure I just didnt get the pipe to seat firmly over the copper exhaust gasket. So Rather than fight this thing the dealership is going to correct it tommarrow right before they Dyno the bike. One thing I have noticed is that the Bike seems to have less torque with this two into one than it did with the true duel setup, could this be do to he leak and or the need for the Dyno??

I don't know what kind of "copper" gasket you used, but with some exhaust systems (D&D) I have had to used the stock exhaust gaskets instead of the thin ones that were supplied to get a good seal. I just use the stock type any more because I know they will seal well. As for your last question, yes.

The exhaust leak is definitely causing some of the torque loss, maybe most or even all of it. The tune will also help a ton. Was it dyno tuned with the true duals? If it was, everything is currently optimized to work with them. The flow characteristics of the 2:1, especially when it comes to scavenging, is quite different. Once it's tuned to work with the pipe, I would think you're going to see significant gains. Best of luck!

I used some thin copper gaskets that J&P recommended when I ordered the Thunderheader. I did notice that the stock ones Look like they are a better type of gasket. Yes I had it dynod fpr the true duel setup I am running an SE RaceTuner 211 cams and a SE heavybreather. I will say this I absolutely love the way the Thunderheader sounds.

Thanks StoneCold and Dan I appreciate the answers. I am much more comfortable knowing that after my install screw up is fixed and the Bike is Dynod that I should see some of the performance gains my HD Mechanic swore that I should get with this two into one over the True Duel Setup. Another very Pleasant surprise for me was that the bike is noticably lighter, those dame V&H High flows are heavy as crap. lol.
