Default Yes another Cam question.....

Its getting that time of the year again where I'm contemplating my winter project and cams are on the radar so heres my question for all you Motor heads out there I have 14 SGS stock head pipe and CVO slip-ons I am one of the rare birds here that do not want or like loud exhaust. I have a PM A/C and would like more low end torque so considering the 48H cams with a PV is it a waste with my current exhaust configuration ?

It will be fine. Pretty good choice actually if you are not concerned with top end.

Those cams that are in the late model bikes are supposed to be pretty good, (late model Stage1 = Stage2 of the 2013 and earlier). Would you notice much of a difference between them and the great 48? Just a good tune with a decatted headpipe and better mufflers than those CVO's would get you what you want I bet.

But I don't want to change my existing exhaust set up I like quiet that's my point.

IMO if you're simply looking for some bottom end TQ and a little more to carry you through the RPM range, forget about the 48H and take a look at Steve's Genesis 577 cam. The 48 which I love and have used in several bikes I've owned just doesn't seem to work very well (at least not as good as it did in the 96") with these 103s. With a little bump in compression I can see them working well but not on a stock motor.

SE 254e is another good option just not as "torquey" as the 577.

look at the difference here comparing the 255 which is HDs claim to fame for a TQ cam and the 577.

SE 204's work well as well. I went with 254e's and kinda like the kick at 3000 rpm or so. Most anything beats hell out of the stock cams in '13's on back.

Thanks Nutz that's a cam you don't see much talk about here on the forum but its a pretty impressive power band in the low 2000's

Your stock cams are about the same as the 255 only with a little less lift and a little advance so they start easier.

A good choice to me would be the S&S 551 or the SE204. Either should work ok with the quite exhaust which is also restrictive some what. The exhaust note will be little louder with the cam addition. Both of these will have better lowend torque than other bolt in cams. They will definitely out do the 14 cams.
