Like skratch said....Plus if you use the genuine H-D lowers the hardware and vent doors are better quality than the aftermarket...so no need to "upgrade" to get the same quality as OE

Default Great replies, thanks!

So I think after reading all the advice, I'll go with the aftermarket lowers, but use HD hardware. If I use them a lot, I can upgrade to HD lowers later. If I just use them some in the spring & fall, like Mcarso1, the aftermarket jobs will probably work fine. I did the same thing with the king tour pack - bought an aftermarket trunk, and used all HD hardware. Sometimes the Harley black bike makes things easier.

The last time I thought I would just use mine during certain seasons was when I bought them three years ago, haven't been off since unless I'm doing a good detailing of the bike. They really do make a big difference.
Good luck with your choice, I have a Mutazu king tour pack and the paint still matches my vivid black 2010 after about 4 yrs of hard use and many miles.

I bought my vivid black lowers from eBay seller Tmshelmet last year and I'm really happy with them. I see they're even cheaper now at $70 plus $20 shipping.

The only hardware I bought from Harley were the clip nuts that hold the upper caps on and the vinyl cover clamp that holds the bottom of the fairing against the crash bar. Everything else I bought at Lowes including the elevator bolts, lock nuts and rubber washers I used to secure the bottom of the fairing to the clamp. The glove boxes can be assembled with short self tapping screws and carriage bolts with lock nuts can hold the vent doors together.

I wasn't happy with the glove box flaps that came with the lowers, so I bought locking doors also off eBay.

BTW....HD Rolling..... That SG looks awesome!

I'm thinking of going with the aftermarket lowers on my King with the HD quick detach hardware kit.

P/N # 58146-07 for the the quick detach hardware should work with a 2011 Road King, right?

If you decide on the Matzua lowers, call and by them directly from their warehouse. You can find their # on the internet. Speak with Gina and mention that you're a member of this website and you decided to buy based on the recommendation from this website. You'll get a 10 or 15% discount.

I have their lowers and King Tour Pak on my 2012 SG. In the lowers are Biketronic 6.5" speakers. And trust me, I blast my music loud. It's been close to 2K miles and no problems with them.
