Alot of good arrests have been yielded from improper display. You would be amazed what you find from petty *** violations. Why...because most people dont know about them so they think that they legal when they arent. Clear covers, tinted, reflective ones, dirt, tape, stickers, ANYTHING on the face of the plate. Most people dont realize how much stuff is "illegal" and PC for being stopped. 8 out of 10 cars have PC to stop them after looking at them for 5 seconds. Then again, most cops, including myself, wont mess with you unless I have another reason for wanting to stop you.
lol that being said I havent had an inspection sticker in three years!

You'll have one next year, or you won't get your tags.

Well... the stickers are going away as of March 15, and will be on the computer, and you must have the inspection linked or you will not be issued tags.

I have my sticker, on the aluminum tab... in my tourpak. I have the inspection, just didn't like the mounting plate that came with it from the dealer, technically illegal, as it blocked the license plate light. Moot point now, but I never did understand why it couldn't be on the side like every other state that required stickers....

Yea I know. That's why I havent renewed it. Had it in my saddle bag and was never asked and hated the way it looked mounted. When I go in to get it inspected it's a farse anyway as they just honk the horn and check the signals.

I agree 100% the inspection is a joke. They should just charge the extra $16 on the registration and call it good.

He didn't even check my signals. He said they are not required on a motorcycle in Texas.

Which is pure bullshit.

Then he told me I couldn't have those "add-on headlights" as it was illegal to have 3 headlights in Texas.
(Referring to either the passing lamps, or the side LEDs in the Daymaker, not sure which)

Which is also pure bullshit.

He said he didn't want me to honk the horn, because he had a headache, and knew it would work.

Yup, more bullshit.

I suggested to him maybe he read up on what is and is not legal, to which he explained to me he's been inspecting motorcycles for 40 years in our Great State...

I, not to miss the chance at being a smartass, told him a lot has changed since 1974.

I still can't figure out exactly what I paid for.... other than a sticker.

I'm so glad Arkansas did away with inspections years ago. Pain in the butt and absolutely worthless as a "safety inspection". Added benefit for LE, a lot more vehicles with light issues to use for probable cause to stop and get a warning to make the brass happy! Not to mention, as Bruin08 said, been a lot of good arrests made on traffic stops because of a light issue etc.

My bike isnt inspected either. My truck is.

Same thing here is LA. Only allowed two headlights max for cars and bikes. Only time you are allowed 4 is inclement weather allows you to use fog lights and headlights. I dont enforce lights on bikes, etc fogs headlight and spots or leds in engine bay because I look at that as safety for the bikers and able to be seen.

When I first bought my SG, I was driving to a detail at night and I saw a bike with a single headlight and it was confusing as to what was in the lane. I couldnt tell if it was a bike, car with a single headlight or a car with two working headlights, but an illusion of something. A litte further up the way, i ran across an Ultra that had his spots and headlight on and he was 100% more visible and I was able to make it out and being another "vehicle" in the lane. I see it so often either bikes headon or beind me I have such a hard time making out what that is behind me when there is only one headlight. I personally think every bike should have two headlights.

When I saw the Ultra with the three lights and the other bike with just the single light and being able to see what I look like while driving at night with just the one headlight, I immeditally started looking into ordered the spot lights. My bikes now has the spots and headlight in LED along with every other light being LED including plasma rods, lights where the antenna cut outs are. One reason why my tour pack will never come off....LIGHTS.
