The Kissan does not. It reduces voltage but does turn it off each time.

Default Kriss Ind. Modulators

I really like the modulators from Kriss Industries. Benn using their tailight mods since 1997. They are programmable. TThey are a little more expensive than some of the others but very high quality. They now have a plug and play tailight modulator that is compatable with the 2014, 2015 Harley canbus. Took all of 30 seconds to install. You will need to have the stealer flash the computer. Also installed one of their headlight mods.

modulators may shorten bulb life- although the voltage is only "reduced" not switched off, halogen bulbs do not react well to low voltage.
This will vary greatly depending on the bulb.
Many modulators have a fail safe mod where they will switch to the other bulb in a steady state if the modulated lamp fails.

Ok, I guess I can understand some guys not liking headlight modulators. I have been running one for over 10 years now. Was recommended by the guys running the MSF course.
I live in a heavily urbanized area with a higher than average number of elderly drivers and tourists. The arguments I have heard, target fixation, mis-communication with cagers, people pulling off the road, etc., are, in a word bull$hit! I have NEVER experienced even one of those events. I HAVE seen somebody who was about to run a stop sign and pull in front of me do a double take and hit the brakes. This has happened too many times to count. Nobody has EVER turned in front of me. That is my experience over 10 years. I KNOW my modulator has saved my *** several times. Do what you want, but don't be swayed by BS arguments from people who have never used a modulator.

I, for one, ran a modulator from 2004 to 2009, and my opinions are based on that. Therefore, my dislike of modulators is from experience, just like your opinion is based on experience. Just because it hasn't happened to YOU, doesn't mean it doesn't or won't happen (or hasn't happened.)

And just because someone else's experience is different than yours doesn't make that person's opinion, in your terms, BS.

Are you saying MSF recommends modulating head lamps?

I agree and well said. My experience is as I stated. I ran the modulator for about a year. I'm still more comfortable without it.

Something else, not all modulators or headlights are the same. I've seen some where I could barely tell it was pulsing. Others were like disco strobes.

All I'm saying is in 10 years of constant use I have NEVER experienced one single negative reaction to my headlight modulator. Yes, just because it never happened to me does not mean it never happens. But I believe those are VERY RARE instances. In other words, it is safer to use one than not to use one. Just like helmets.
I do not know the MSF's position on headlight modulators. The instructors when my wife and I took the course highly recommended them. Those guys were and are more knowledgeable than me about safety issues. I took their advice, and am glad I did.

[QUOTE=Clayvis;13349708]....Just like helmets...QUOTE]

Unless they are red.

Helmets may prevent certain types of injuries

Helmets may cause other types of injuries due to increased mass on top of the neck and the increased leverage if the encased head makes contact.

Helmets may also reduce the riders hearing and sight of hazards-

try wearing a helmet in your car- you may just get a ticket.

anyone who places faith in a helmet should take a minute to read the label inside. it is a disclaimer telling you how it won't prevent injury.
