I did the Progressive Drop-In kit in mine too and went down 1.5". I originally did all SE oil and it rode way too firm. I changed it to a 50/50 mix of stock and SE and it's just right for me. I'm also running 12" air shocks in the rear and the rear is bumpier than the front, even with low air pressure. May try changing oil in the rears and see what happens. I've read here that its a huge difference.

When I had my 07 RK Custom I did lower the front 1 inch, and had no problems with it.
I also put on footboard extensions from V Twin Goodies, and when I reinstalled the footboards
I moved the front mount to the upper frame hole for a more comfortable angle. I also noticed
that once in a while the footboards would scrape in corners, but not vary often. when you
do lower your frontend it is a good time to drain fork oil and replace it with a high quality fork
oil like Belray 7 or 10 weight

What? I must have missed something.

You're saying that putting 12" shocks on the rear dropped the front 1"?

Actually going to HD Profile Low shocks only nets ž" at best, on the rear only.

Thanks guy!!! My next winter project is just that. Lowering front end and replacing my kick stand with a shorter one.

If you have the Progressive drop in unit. The oil isn't for damping, only to keep it lubed. Doesn't matter what kind of oil.
BTW...I wouldn't get the Progressive units again..Too stiff for my liking.

I am very pleased with the fork drop in conjunction with the one inch drop in the rear.

You're right SafetyMan. The HD P&A says so, so it must be! All I know is it got me flat-footed.

'10 RK 1" lower mono tubes in ft. and 12" SG shocks in rear.Very harsh ride! Changed the rears to Ohlins and everything changed, smoothed out the front also. I don't understand why but am satisfied with the ride now.

Not sure what you mean??? The drop in kit is just a set of 2 shorter springs, two stabilizer springs, and cuttable spacers. The oil is critical is dampening.

I think all he was saying is the stock shocks are 12 3/4 inches, not the 13 inches we all are guilty of calling them. So swapping from stockers to the 12 inch Low Profile shocks will only net you 3/4 of an inch drop, not an inch.
