Do the big metric air cooled V twins such as the Yamaha Road Star or the Kawasaki Vulcan also have problems with running hot? They're under the same EPA regs as Harley, so what gives?
Similar concernes were posted many times about the '06 Big Twins. I have had no heat issues with mine. Good lubricants and common sense will get you through. Use good synthetics in the crank case and tranny and avoid heavy stop and go traffic at the hight of summer. You'll do fine.
Heat issue..????? What heat issue...???? I have an '07 Ultra. I had a '03 RKC and a '00 Fatboy. When I buy a scooter, I know in advance that I'm going to change out the pies or mufflers, air cleaner, and either carb jet or PCIII..........So, I've NEVER experienced a heat issue, even down here in SE Texas. Heat issue...????? Me know understand !!! Just do what you'd normally do and don't let all the magazine articles, rumors, few bad experiences, etc. slow ya down. It's a Harley man!! What other alternative do ya have....???????
Removed my lowers yesterday for the hotter temps but I just like to keep it moving down the road and no heat problem. Traffic lights are just a minor inconvenience to having a great ride. Besides, it is nice to have heat generated blisters on the thigh every now and again.
