Default Pls advice RK classic second hand

Hello,
I am about to buy a second hand RK Classic 2011. The point is it's got 1,900 miles (the man didn't ride much...) The bike was parked in a garage. Looks like new. I need to drive back home 370 miles. What do I need to check? Is it risky to your opinion?
Best regards
Eric, Paris, France

Sounds like a good find. Check oil dip stick for proper oil level. Smell the oil on the dipstick - hopefully it won't smell burnt. Same with transmission fluid. Make sure tires are aired up to 40 psi. Check saddlebag fasteners installed correctly - you don't want to see one in your rear view mirror laying on the road.

If it's in "looks like new" condition and at a reasonable price, I'd jump on it and smile for the 370 mile trip home.

Check your fluids and air pressure in the tires. Give the bike a good once over and check for any loose brackets, etc. For a little more comfort on way home, you might want to check the pressure in the air shocks, it's OK to ride with no pressure but more comfortable if they are right.

You will love the RKC. Do you know if he had the 1000 mile service done? Either way you should be good to go after a quick inspection. I have 23000 miles on my 2011 RKC and have had no issues to speak of. Good luck!

I'm sure those are the original tires given the low miles. The recommended pressures on a 2011 RKC are 36 front and 40 rear. As others have said, check the fluid levels and quality then go for it! It's a fantastic bike. You'll love it. I've put about 36,000 miles on mine. You need to catch up!

Félicitations!

New to you unfamiliar bike & 370 mile trip?

I would rent a truck & haul it.

The suggestions others have made are great .... one other thing not mentioned yet is the battery. Be sure to check it is fully charged before you set our. And if seems to hesitate on starting you may want some 'insurance' by putting a new battery in b4 you go. Batteries don't like not being used unless it was on a tender and even then it's iffy.

Cheers and enjoy your NEW RKC!!!

If it has security you may want to take a new fob battery too and get the code from the owner.

Fill the tank with premium and a shot of Seafoam.
