Default Trucklite TL7 Headlight

So, I said screw it and dumped the $160 on a truck lite LED... Had the Daymaker on my Street Bob, but didn't keep it when I traded it in because it wouldn't fit the Street Glide...
Really didn't feel like spending another $400+ on a headlight... So I called my local NAPA, they had it the next day.
Now, I've read all the threads about the "gap" between the front of the light and the stock trim ring... First of all, it's really not that bad of a gap... If this were strictly a show bike, I wouldn't be ok with it, but for a daily cruiser... No one would even notice it except for us forum guys who have read about it 100+ times! Secondly, I had already planned on changing the trim ring anyway... So, this was a no brainer.... Got the black "visor" style, gap gone and it looks pretty sick against the blue! Another bonus to the trucklite for me, it has a smoked appearance to match my smoked turn lenses...

On to the performance of the light... The biggest issue with the Daymaker, everyone knows is the horizon that tilts and darkens the road in turns... I adapted to the issue with the 5 3/4" Daymaker on the Street Bob... But, with the trucklite, this is not an issue at all... I have a few pretty long sweeping turns on my ride home at night, and through all of them it lights the way beautifully.
On the straights in low beam, I will say that it isn't quite as bright as the projector Daymaker, but with the high beam on it outperforms it. I believe this is due to the fact that the high beam is additional light whereas the Daymaker actually shuts off the low beam when Hi is selected.

Overall, I am pleased with the light... 1000% better than stock... A great competitor to the HD Daymaker... But for the cost, to me it's a no brainer! To each their own, enjoy the pics and let me know what you think!

I think the trim ring looks good on the bike. Matches up well. Go enjoy the lite now.

I like the black trim ring on your bike. Really matches the paint well.

(I've been using my TL7 for over a year now. I love it.)

I wonder how that black trim would look with a black fairing

got one on my twinkie and just got one for my shovelhead; my only regret is finding out about the black visor AFTER I'd already bought the chrome one. At least I found it on eBay, so I didn't have to pay full price from the dealer.

Love the TL and have the running lamps on my Road King as well as headlight. Had the Daymaker on my Road Glide and it really suffered in tight turns at dark, being on a fixed fairing. Other that that. just going down the road it was outstanding but myself the TL is a great investment. Did not know about the black ring but my bike is being painted along with apes and nacelle so the extended chrome ring will leave a nice contrast. I like the contrast on your bike and think it looks great!!! Ride safe.

Haha! I know, I'm actually quite ashamed of it... I should park it and go get myself a goldwing. It is HD pn#61400292

Seazund - I'm very impressed with the light... Like you I'll probably put it on everything I get from here out. I got the idea for black when I saw another forum member have his pc'd black... I was happy to see HD make one, not happy to pay $50 for it though! Oh we'll, you gotta pay to play sometimes...

SBeast - I think it would look pretty damn good... It seams it would be a good color match, do what I did... Ask the parts guy if you can go out and check it on your bike first... He was happy to oblige, even helped with the install to make sure it fit. When it was done, we went back in and paid him!

Skiddd & Bikeagraman - Thank You guys! I appreciate it! It looks even better than I had pictured in my head! Love it when something just matches and looks right at home... Asides for my apparent love for metal flake and pearl paint... I'm a less is more kind of guy, I like the mods to stand out to me, but look right at home to everybody else...

Griffin - I wish I could! I had every intention of riding all night, then the rains came!

Thanks to everyone! I hope these pictures help ease some minds about the 'gap' if you are on the fence about LED, give this light a shot...
