6 gear light
Riding home the other day, almost dark, and noticed when I went from 3rd to 4th the 6 gear light on dash light up and went right back off. Done it one more time before I got home. Why would this light come on going from 3rd to 4th on both occasions. Does it have a switch just for 6 gear and where is it located? Maybe take it out and clean?

There is no 6th gear switch! The ECM (computer) looks at the engine RPM and the MPH signals. And when the ratios are right the light is turned on. You just were looking when the right combination happened.

Yes, I've seen this before when I had my 13 Ultra Classic. Upon my research I found the same thing as ^^^^^ said. Doesn't happen every time but when the ECM sees the right parameters, it'll cause the light to flash real quickly.

Anyone know if the 6th gear light gets 12 volts or some reduced voltage from the ECM? Thinking the op should feed 12 volts into the feed wire for 6th gear light to check the light and circuit continuity. If the light works, the rest of the trouble shooting is appropriate, if it doesn't, there's the problem.
