Default Stereo is dead

I have an 04 Road Glide with the stock stereo. Rode 2 weeks ago and when I parked it the stereo worked fine. Went to ride today and the stereo will not come on. Not even the clock. All fuses are good. I am getting 12.5 volts to the stereo plug on both battery pins and the signal pin also. I am getting a good ground also. I am thinking something is wrong internally with the stereo. Any ideas?

Check out www.ironcrossaudio.com

They specialize in the Harmon Kardon radios.

Yup. Either check out ironcross or go to biketronics and get an aftermarket head unit. Mine did the same thing on my 06 and I replaced it with a Sony from biketronics.

The Radio is your '04 is not Harmon Kardon, it was made by Radio Sound. They do offer a flat rate repair for $250.00. http://www.radiosound.com/customer_service.php

Maybe a good time to upgrade the stereo and put in an aftermarket HU and speakers...

just a side note, if you replace it with a non-Harley radio, you'll lose your intercom and CB functions. Have you tried re-seating the harness on the back of the radio; perhaps using some contact cleaner? Could be something as simple as tarnish on the contacts.

I had a similar problem. It was my ground screw on the steering neck, it was loose. The front brake line clamp shares the same screw.
Also check/wiggle all the connections as SeaZund noted.

Radio sound is the way to go IMO, so called upgraded aftermarket units just don't last, a friend has a road king with a faring , and he has had to put in a new unit every year he has had it , until we put a factory HD radio in the faring, rain, snow, and riding hasn't hurt it, and it has been 3 years in the faring.
He even had the cover on the after market ones, they still died.
