This will bring my post total to a whopping 2. My wife is taking delivery of a 1999 Ultra classic for me today. ( I am in Iraq right now) and I wanted to see about some new style wheels off a newer ultra so I can chrome them. I saw a set on Ebay for an 05 road king but I am not sure what fits what. can anyone tell me what will work for my bike? I dont mind changing bearings and such if need be. I just dont want to pony up the dough and have them chromed only to find out they wont work when I get home in 4-5 Months. Thanks in advance.
Scott...I don't know the answer to your question, but would like to take the opportunity to say, Thanks for protecting us here at home. I slept good last night because of you!
Thanks for the help guys, newhog I see you have the big bore kit, my bike has the big bore kit and the screaming eagle stage one with stock cams. ( I really have no Idea what a sreaming eagle stage one consists of) I have never rode a ultra before, how much difference did the big bore kit make from stock, also the PC III, did that makea big difference as well, thanks for indulging the newby questions. I am coming off sportbikes, and dont know much about harleys other than a sportster I cusomized a couple years ago.
This is the sportster I did, it has a 200 rear tire 6 degree trees 9 inch rear fender new tank and pipes, a pro one billet rear and all chrome goodies.
I'm pretty sure that any wheel with a 3/4" bearing set up will work on your 1999 Ultra. In 2002 I believe that the touring bikes went to 1" bearings. There are kits out there that will allow you to retro fit a 1" bearing wheel to 3/4" forks but I have no experience with those. I'm sure you can buy such a kit from J&P or Dennis Kirk.
Thanks for your service to our country and come home safe.
