Give bitchin Baggers a call , they modded my stock SG shocks to 11" the ride wasn't bad to me bout the same as stock.
Ron will answer all your questions you have.
Phoenix Customs will take care of you. I had them cut my 12 inch OEM airshocks on my StreetGlide to 11 inches. I am impressed with the ride and the inch DID make a difference. Highly recommend them.
I don't know why so many say call howard... He sold me shocks and then gave the wrong info on the setup and I let out the nitrogen. than he wanted me to pay to ship them back to ship them back to jri to have them checked.. he should of payed to have them shipped and he shouldn't sell a product he doesn't know how to set up. the rear shocks were $1,275.00 and i'm not happy. he was also very hard to get a hold of..
Everything you said in your post was counter to the experience I've had w/ him. He has answered the phone most hours and has always returned calls when it went to voice mail.
I don't know how could you have let the nitrogen out unless you have absolutely no mechanical experience. Ask questions until you understand how everything works and everything should go well.
Howard rules.
I don't know what else anyone could expect of him and btw no where will you get the knowledge and free assistance you need.
Is he going to give you a hug. No. But he's going to get your shocks set up like nobody else will.

I'll call BS , Howard is the easiest vendor to get a hold of I've ever seen , he answers his phone at all hours and returns calls promptly if he is busy when you call , and he is very involved in your installation and setup whether you want him to or not
