I have a 2012 RKC - I just ordered some true dual headers and was planning to use the stock mufflers for a while. I just wanted to make sure that the left and right mufflers are the same on that model year. I can feel a difference in exhaust volume between the left and right side, but my guess is that's due more to how the stock exhaust is really a 2:1 and the left pipe is mostly cosmetic and doesn't get a lot of flow.
Can someone confirm that the mufflers are the same?
They are the same, but they are NOT interchangeable from left to right.
This is due to the dimples on the top inside of each muffler for shock mounting point clearance.
ok great. I don't mind that they have to stay on the same side due to the "dimples" on top - just wanted to make sure i wasn't going to get more exhaust resistance in 1 cylinder than the other.
Your assumption is correct. A muffler can go on either side.
That is incorrect.
The mufflers are specific to each side as previously mentioned account the indentations on them. Sure, they will mount up on either side. That is if you don't mind that "dent" being on the outside of the muffler for the whole world to see, plus beating a dent on the inside because they are mounted on the wrong side.
