My Dad bought a 2014 Ultra a few months ago, it is equipped with the factory LED headlight and passing lamps.
We noticed that that are fogging up on the inside pretty bad. It happened then cleared up fine then today they fogged up completely.
Anyone else having this happen ??
We took some pictures of it and when he gets to Arizona it will likely not happen but he is going to bring it to attention of service dept for possibly getting them replaced under warranty.
there was a thread on here a while back talking about this. A few guys had this problem and HD warrantied them, but it took some doing before HD would replace them.
Both my LED HL and passing lights fogged up.
Messy looking.....
Harley replaced mine.
Old lights had a yellow seal (fabric type) behind the HL.
New lights had a hard black seal.
I was told there is a gas inside and the gas seeps out with the yellow (fabric) seal.
Not so with the hard seal.
The new LED lights had an "A" in the PN.
Been on a few years now and no fogging.
Thanks for the info, it is sure possible a 2014 got the older ones installed. So far any issues have been handled by the purchasing dealer rapidly and happily.
The fogging happens after the lamps have been on for while while riding. Since the front of the lens is cooler than the lamp body the fogging (condensation) will occur there. But once turned off for a while the fogging clears away. Many people don't know that the fogging ever happened. The manufacturer of these LED lamps says the condensation is normal. That's their excuse. If they actually knew how to make a lamp, the condensation would never happen.
I had one of my passing lamps fog up and it would not clear up. Lakeshore replaced it just before they changed ownership. The replacement will fog up a little but it does clear up.
Based on my experience I am surprised that I don't see that many complaints.
