Default reach seat or lowering kit

07 Ultra Classic....I'm 5'8" 32" inseam. When I purchased bike I got a reach seat shipped to my (vendor ship) I didn't like the feel of the seat and I like the feel of the orignal seat. Thought about lowering the bike but don't want to run into scraping on turns. I like the lower street glide (Is that just the back only?) The only other harlery I've got to ride is a Fat Boy and I liked the lower profile, I scraped a few times riding it though.
Any advise on the lowering rear shocks and front spring insert kit? Does it make much of a difference? Scraping problems? I love the ride now , will that change any?
TIA !

Scraping is a rite of passage. If your footboard brackets aren't scuffed your not cornering correctly.[8D]

I have an 06 Ultra. I lowered the rear (HD Lowering Shocks) and added Reach Bars. I now like the original seat. I have not had any problems with handling. Rides better than my Street Glide.

I'd have to second the Sundowner seat. I tried the reach seat and the lack of padding in the driver's seat made the seat unbearable after a few hours. The Sundowner seat didn't raise me up to where I couldn't touch.

You should have Allen from Mean City cycles lower the original seat by 2" and forward 1" he also does a memory foam mod which I'm having done. I was told it will be lots more comfortable than the original. Also its a heck of a lot cheaper than lowering the bike or a new seat and you won't lose any ground clearance. Can't wait to get mine back.

I too have this problem. I used the progressive 11.5" shocks in the rear, andthe lowering springs in the forks,I alsohad Meancity lower the seat and reduce the padding in the sides of the seat for me. I sit down nice and low now and do not scrape around the mountain road turns at all. Well...now and then if I am really cutting them hard. The 11.5 shock doesn't give you much travel though and will bottom out pretty quickly if you hit a bad chuck hole. You might want to stay with the 12" shocks ( the originals shocks are 13"), but I still think the progressive shocks are better than the Harley lowered shocks, and I have had both. Anyway that is my opinion for what that is worth.

I too had the same problem 5'-6"Ihad both the front and back lowered with HD shocks and spring kit on my 07 ultra. Also had the stock seat re worked and put in a gell pad. Lowered it a little and sides brought in. Just got it back friday, Have to say i love it. Check with a local trim shop that does custom interiors, They will help you out.. They whole thing setme backall of $120.00. ($80.00 of that wasto order the gel pad)It might sound funny but a good pair of Boots with 1" to 1" 1/2 sole helps alot with those of us that are vertically challanged!!!!!!!!
