Default Climate controlled storage

I've been putting off storing my Road King for as long as possible, but now that there's snow on the ground I think it's time to say goodbye to my baby for the season. Last year I stored it at the dealership for about $300, which included winterizing it, keeping it hooked up to a battery tender, and storing it until April in a climate-controlled storage facility.

A friend of mine has offered me storage in his garage, where I could keep it plugged into a battery tender and winterize it myself. The advantage of this is that I could visit my bike when I want, and even do a bit of wrenching. The only thing is, his garage isn't climate-controlled.

How much difference does climate-controlled storage make? Which would you choose? (I've tried to google for this, and seemingly, every article on the subject is from a storage rental company who are trying to sell climate-controlled storage units...)

My garage isn't climate controlled. It is insulated, but no heat unless I fire something up. Never had any issues with the scoot.

where do you keep it the rest of the year?
build a 8wx10L shed or even look on CL for one then run an electric heater to it.

ditto with Dawg, my garage isnt heat but is insulated... i havent had any issues exept when i didnt put it on the battery tender... you shouldnt have any trouble with putting your bike in a garage, as long as it dry... we go thru our garage all year long and seldom use the front door to the house, and even the little bit of moisture that gets in the garage does no harm what so ever... we're in the pacific north west, it rains all the time, never had a problem with the bikes here

Been storing bikes in my unheated garage for decades, my boat stays outside (covered) all winter. No problems with either. Not sure what advantage heated storage would offer.

I live in a townhouse, so I keep my bike in a parking spot out front the rest of the year. Someday I will have a house with a garage. :/

$300.00 is better in my pocket. I change the fluids, top off the gas, treat it with Stabil, pull the battery and put it in my trailer with a cover over it. My trailer is climate controlled. During the day it is warmed by the sun and at night it cools off to whatever the temperature is outside. Up until two years ago it was stored in my unheated garage. It is a machine, it won't melt or wither away. Your scoot will be just fine in your bud's garage.

Unfortunately this past weeks snow storm messed up my winterizing plan for the Thanksgiving weekend and I had to put it away in a hurry. I am not worried about it.

I keep my King in a well insulated heated garage, never gets under 52 deg. When I do need to do something on my bike or work I turn it up to 65 and it's perfect for working or maybe a beer or 2. No condensation and it's always nice and dry. Don't cost much and it's a tax right off because I keep all my cements in there for work so they cant frees.

A buddy put his bike in a storage unit, hooked up the battery charger and all was well. He returns a few days later and notices something white under his bike. Upon further investigation it is was the work of mice. They had torn the padding from his seat for a nest. He now has traps surrounding his bike. No worries as it is a Victory.
