Have a question for the gurus. If the bike is running hot, can we just rich the mix a bit with out all the purchases? In Canada our exhaust emissions standards are a bit kinder than yours. I suppose that like a fellow member says " If it was easy, someone would have done already". With the carb, not a problem, but can you just remap the EFI ?
It is not possible to remap the FI without spending money, unless you are some sort of a programmer familiar with the Delphi FI and willing to do the work yourself. The 300 or so for a PCIII is going to be a lot cheaper than that option.
Easiest way around the FI system? rip it out and put a carb on it, jet it to your liking, hope you don't live in an area where they look at such things and or smog test.
Well you can't just rip it out.
The ECM controls everything including the spark.
By the time you bought new harness, ignition module, and manifold
and carb and etc, you could almost of bought another bike.
There's all kinds of fuel management controllers out there.
HD screaming Eagle makes their own race tuner probably one of the best.
Only draw back is you can not use it on any vehicle but the one you used it on first.
pc iii and others you can move from one bike to another if you wish.
But yes doing it this way you can modify the fuel air without buying any other performance
parts.
The fuel controllers are great. I got the techlusion one and it is just like adjusting a carbarator. You can adjust for different intakes, exhausts configurations and if your not sure what settings to use, just give them a call, they have solutions for almost every situation. Best $150 I spent
There are dealer downloads that will richen the mixture that go for us. 149.00 + 1/2 hr. labor, vance and hines fuel pack is best bang for the buck, easy to use, plug and play, tunable and does not require removal of 02 sensors, 189.00 on ebay all the time.
