I have pulled the tank, and have done it with just loosening the tank and propping it up at the back after removing rear bolt. There is pros and cons both ways, as is also with adjustable push rods. ++ on drilling the oil returns.

Lesson learned: I installed the 575 RedShift Cams. Same base circle as stock but bought the Zippers adjustable pushrods as well, thinking I would avoid removing the tank, etc. What I found was, it is impossible to install the Zippers adjustables without removing the tank, covers and lifting the rocker assemblies. So, I did that and still had to adjust the pushrods. I would have been better off to just re-use the stock pushrods. Not that this is at all relevant to what you have planned, just a heads up to buy better adjustable pushrods than I did or just remove the tank, covers, loosen and raise the rocker arms. Really not that difficult and yeah, if you can drill for better oil flow...BONUS, "while your at it".

I am planning on putting the Andrews 57H in my 13 FLHTK. I would prefer to reuse the stock PR's rather than go with adjustables. I googled the base circle on the 57's and got a thread on HTT that said the base circle is .02 smaller.

I guess I'll call Andrews and see what they say.

I've done it both ways you save an hour or so, but the stocks never come loose, so.....

I installed the Andrews 57H in my 110" last winter, along with all the new goodies, like S&S lifters, bearings, etc.

I'd certainly go in through the top end. To me, it feels like 'right' way to go about the project. I'm not saying that the adjustable PRs are 'wrong' but my preference was to go through the top.

I also took the opportunity to install a set of Cometic MLS .030 head gaskets.

I've used adjustables when I did my 98" Fuel Moto build on my old Softail, but that was with decked heads and high-lift cams.

The only special tools you would likely need are 3/8" and 7/16" dogbone adapters for a ratchet style torgue wrench. This will allow you to reach the bolts for the rocker assemblies, etc.

some adjustable pushrods are not easy install meaning you have to pull the tank so if you are going to use adjustable pushrods and you want to not pull the tank and rocker covers double check to make surethey're easy install an adjustable

I had the Andrews 57H cams in my 2013 SG , Andrews suggested adjustable pushrods for their cams.
I used the adjustable s&s push rods with no issues saved a little time and could be used again if I were change cams in the future.

You made a good point, I have been thinking about that. Suppose I did want to change out the cam or needed to go back in. I will just go ahead and use the adjustable ones. I have put a lot of miles on my 87 lowrider with the adjustable pr and they are still fine.

Thanks everybody for your time.

I called Andrews, Gary suggested using the adjustable, so I ask if stock could be used, and he said they would definitely work because the base was the same. I haven't decided yet. I have had the tank off before, it's easy to remove. Has anyone done a video on the rocker covers and rockers?
