2005 ultra ,, some one sugested to check the ground strap from the inner primary to the frame on my bike ,, i cant find it in the manual or one on the bike , does the 2005 have one and mine is just missing ? or is this on lator or earlier models.
thanks mike
What issue are you trying to trouble shoot? I doubt any year bike had a ground strap on the primary housing
chaseing starting problem, check all mounting bolts for tightness ,batt checked good for load test, all connections good , clean and tight , someone sugested to check the ground strap from i/p to frame but i cant find one on my bike or in my manual so i just put a feeler out to see if someone knew if the bike orignaly came with one.
thanks
It's under the trans, back side of the primary. Every rubber mount bike has one. If your starter solenoid just clicks, that's a good thing to check.
Mike
ok thanks i'll look again,, probaly overlooked it ,, but when i resealed the primary and had it off to do the shift shaft seal i dont recall taking one loose,, can you see it from the bottom , or from the side??
thanks
From the bottom. Use a flashlight. It's bolts to the crossmember right under the trans and is only about 4-5" long. Goes right to the backside of the primary under the input shaft area

Guess it depends on the year. I've never seen one on a primary housing. On my 08 the negative battery cable terminates on a bolt on the top backside of the transmission not the primary.
