Here is where I'm stuck,I have a 2004 cop roadking 96,000 on her and it's been an outstanding motorcycle.Beside's the normal wear stuff (tensioners, brakes, tires, battery)it has never let me down, went any direction I wished. So I have a chance to get an 07 cop roadking with 22,000 on it and money wise rebuilding the 04 vs buying the 07 works out about equal.Cant make up my mind, only because the 04 has been such a good ride.A little help would be appreciated and are the 07's as dependable?
Thanks guy's reading and asking question's here has helped me do all my own stuff.

The 07's had a higher rate of crank issues than other years. It's my understanding that Harley used a new manufacturing process that started in 07. The 07's had issues with pinging and heat stock. That of course can be corrected with a tuner.
If it was me, I would not trade for anything less than a 09. I owned a 07 touring bike and had my fair share of issues.
I have an 07 Road King. Stock with no major issues in 55000 kms. Replaced y pipe twice and when it breaks again I'm going to a 2 into 1. Runs cooler than my brother's 2014 Limited. Does ping in 6th if under 80 mph. I have ridden it across Canada and from Yellowknife to Cabo. Tires are way cheaper than 09 and up and no dbw failures because it has cables. Its a keeper for me
I think your 04 is a 5 speed and the 07 is a 6 speed. I have never rode the early 6 speed but it seems alot of people on here complain about the gear ratio in those early 6 speeds not working well in 6th gear.

RevBlk- you've GOT to have stories/pics of that Cabo trip! Everytime I land in Cabo, I fantasize about riding there.
The '07 cop bike has the 103 with 6 speed. I love mine, trouble free and modified to my liking. I changed out the cams, tuner, etc. and addressed the final drive gear ratio issue. An '09 has no advantage over my '07 other than maybe a gal more fuel capacity but that has never been an issue. I personally also like the looks of the 5 gal tank better. The '09up frame did increase the carrying capacity but at the expense of a heavier frame. For piece of mind on either pre or '09up a rear stabilizer is cheap insurance. An '07 FLHP is the perfect bike for a DIY type guy. I can go from stripped down "hotrod" to touring mode in minutes with all quick detach hardware.

Thanks guys,Recycled that is sharp but I'm a little confused as I havent seen anything about a cush drive and a 68 tooth pully, thought that didnt work.

It works with a little effort. Just find a shop that does trike conversions. They will supply most of the needed parts for a reasonable price. I don't think I spent much more than $1000. on the complete Ultra wheels, cushdrive conversion, including the fender modification.
