I would get a small toothpick, and scrape until all is very shiny an near operating room clean!!
just kidding, looks just fine!! replace the exhaust gasket and put that puppy together!! there looks like there is still the gasket in there you have to work them a little to get them out

Clean it up,-you get one chunk of **** loose,it's sticks to the valve.You run it,you get a burnt valve.Leave it alone!Put new gaskets on it and put the pipes back on.
While you're at it,do you have a crankcase breather system that doesn't dump into the intake? Get one.
I took this one, see if you can see it ok. If not, I'll try to get a closer picture tomorrow.
As others have suggested, that's the old gasket in there.
An ice pick slipped between the gasket and seat shoulder will normally allow you to pry it out. Once out, clean the shoulders with some brake/parts cleaner. Stuff a rag into the exhaust throat then spray/scrub with a small tooth brush. Remove rag when done.
Once the gasket is removed, the gasket surface should appear clean, shiny, and have sharp square edges.
I took this one, see if you can see it ok. If not, I'll try to get a closer picture tomorrow.
I would just pull the gasket out and clean the area around it and put it back together. The valve guide is in good shape looks like. This is entirely normal. You will do more harm than good if you try to clean it all up.
