Default Kuryakyn floorboard relocator question

This is for all the folks who have installed the Kuryakyn floorboard relocators. I just installed them on my 2004 Road King along with the HD extended floorboard pans.

I got everything tightened up and am wondering... Are the floorboards suppose to move freely with no resistance? They seem sloppy. I can lift them up and put them back down and there is no resistance like there was before. They also rattle a little when I apply throttle without my feet on them. The instruction said to use washers as shims for the front mounts but I was not able to fit any washers in the gaps.

Is this normal? And if so, is there any way to tighten them up some?

This may not completely answer your question, but mine are a little on the sloppy side as well. I was however, able to put the washers on the front mount. Street glide tho. It's a royal pain to get those washers in, but it will probably take up quite a bit of slack if you can.

I know you shouldn't have to, but if the washers fm this kit don't work (e.g. too thick), I'd take a trip to the local HW store and get some thinner ones to use as shims. Floorboards shouldn't be sloppy, or have a lot of movement...JMO.

"Are the floorboards suppose to move freely with no resistance?" NO.
Do they? YES.
I haven't fixed mine yet, but I have a bag full of washers to try and get it tightened up. I just keep forgetting to take them with me when I go work on the bike. I had to use all the washers provided with the kit, and its still very loose. Couldn't even crank the bolts enough to get any tension on the brackets.

I installed those on mine and pretty much took them right back off. I wasn't happy with exactly what you are describing. I didn't try to take up the "slop" with washers. I ordered some other foot board 1" (outward) extensions and combined those with the HD extended (forward) pans. That combination gave me the exact position I needed.

Technically, the Kury product would have worked, but I prefer my foot boards be fairly rigid in their mount and only hinge upward with a good solid impact or touch down.

I have these and don't have any of the problems you describe. Mine can be folded up by hand but you'd have to use a little force. I could make them tighter but I like them the way they are.

2010 Limited with some stuff!!

I also had to add a washer or 2 to take up the sloop. Called Kury on it & their reply was the Harley spec range is so large they just add some shims to the package. Sometimes it's enough sometimes it's not.

I ended up going to Lowes and getting some thinner washers. With a little filing I got them fitted perfectly. Now there is resistance and all the slop is gone. I'm happy now.

I also threw on some new floorboard pads and a new brake pedal pad. 😊

Have had mine on for a few years, All four Kury washers fit perfect. No slop but will rise up by hand or when I scrape em. I did crack the chrome on the rears, Didn't notice it till last summer. I may have overtightened a bit where a thin washer may have fit but not now.
Oh,Yes also had to add extended brake pedal. Removed heel shifter,Fits me good.
