on what tuner to go with. i have been reading every thread that comes along on this subject, and have only gotten more confused. im mainly looking at either the pcIII or the sert. i know that neither can be called "better" at this point. i really would love to know the pros and cons of each unit so that i can make my best educated guess on which to go with. the dealer says go sert, the indy says go pcIII!!! i have a 07 rkc. i will probably be going with rinehart td's. i already have a k&n ac on there. im looking for good overall performance. not stupid fast off the line, but fast enough to have fun. i do a lot of highway driving, so killer top end is good. also want it to be LOUD enough to be heard in traffic EASILY. any feedback u cats could give me would be greatly appreciated. probably make my purchase this week.

The SERT with a Dyno tune is the best package.

It really comes down to who you want tuning your bike. Both have positives and negatives, but BOTH will do the job.
In your area, who has the better reputation? The indy (PCIII)or the dealer (SERT)?

I used the PCIII.....I like it because if you don't want to pay for a dyno, you can use a map that has your set up. I have been putting off a dyno tune for a year now and the bike runs good.

I agree with LP. On a basic Stage 1 upgrade, both will do just fine. Once you start adding more serious performance upgrades to your bike (heads, cams, big bore, more compression, etc.) the SERT will be the better option. It has more tuning parameters that can be manipulated.

If the Rhieharts are all you are going to do, then I would probably just go with a PCIII.

Both unit work well.

***BUT*** In order to work really well, BOTH units require a competent tuner. You may wanna try to determine if either one or the other is available in your area. THere seem to be far fewer competent SERT tuners than PC tuners, but it really depends on your area.

Now that we have helped yo clear all that up.... there's the DTT and the TMax units that tune themselves. The cool thing there, is that as you add stuff later, it fixes itself... you don't have to go back to the (hopefully) competent tuner.

It really just breaks down to is WHAT do you want the Fuel Management System to do for you and how much $$$$ you want to spend???

If your just going to do a Stang 1 set-up then just about anything on the market will work..

SERT - Marries the system to your bike & it's HD product
PCIII - Still has a few Issues - But seems to be the most popular & I have used it on both of my older bikes with great results but not my '07 (I went with a V&H FuelPak as I don't plan on doing a bunch of engine up-grades and it's working GREAT for what I want it to do)

I believe this is a true statement, someone correct me if not....

If the SERT ever crapped out on you while on the road away from home you could also just unplug it and at least limp home with a badly tuned bike but at least moving. With the PCIII you cannot do this.

Other way around. Thing is, the SERT never fails. It is in the ECM kinda.
PCIII's do fail every now and then and yeah you can limp home afterwards...

I went with the PCIII for stage 1 because if I do go to a wide band controller in the future I can sell it. Also plenty of really good maps available.

The SERT, your stuck with it.
