I'd take this as a time to do the upgrade. Our 09s are cursed with bad comps. All indications are that they will fail, and the racket they make while failing sucks. The new comps reportedly are much smoother, giving better shifting.
Just bought a full diy kit from fav dealer. Everything, incl. glue, aplicator and gasket ~ $450. Sucks to have to do this on a well maintained scoot @ 24k mi, but I spent that on speakers and my bike will be much better mechanically. I like that.
The install is ambitious for me, but I have shop manuals, tools, and the forum. So, I'd do it.
The MoCo should sell the upgrade kit at a discount to them who want to upgrade...that would be the right thing to do. But then, those that insist on doing the right thing are far and few. I've meet a few on this forum, glad it still means something to some.
