Too many idiots driving cages to look out for doing the speed limit. Never mind at 100+!
Choosing the right time and place would be wise! Riding at 100mph on a German autobahn requires eyes in the back of your head, for fear of getting in the way of something much faster.........
Been over 150 lots on ninjas but even though my eg hits 100 easily it is getting unstable enough for me to back off. Touring front ends aren't much good at speed.
Took my King to 115 once, and plenty throttle left. I decided I had tempted fate enough and backed it down. Only did that to see if it would or not. As another poster said, going that fast covers ground quickly, and shortens the ride.
My 13 rg with stage 1 (bassani, zippers, and pv) will do it indicated with a good tail wind and a downhill run. It hits 110 easy often on GPS but that last 10 mph is hard to get. Wrap it out through the gears is key staying 5th in the end.
Ive buried the speedo relatively quickly after the 30tooth and 124/121 build. I saw it hit 138 on a dyno at 6200. I saw a stock geared 107 hit 150 on the dyno. But when comparing my speed to my gps, it was 4-7 mph slower than HD's gauge so about 115 was showing 107, before the big build. Have a SE CVO with a 110 and had it to 110 in4th or 5th without any issues, maybe when I get used to the bike Ill push it some more.
Im sure most have tried, but how many with glides have actually hit or buried their speedo at 120?
Reason I ask is because i have a 96ci batwing fairing with andrews 48 cams and I can barely hit 115! My tuner says bike is not designed to go that fast as the fairing blocks alot of wind.
However, most locals I talk to about this claim they hit and bury speedos at 120 no problem. So now Im wondering is it my tune? motor? or are they full of it.
I've never hit 120 mph with either my 2011 96" RK or my 2014 103" RK. Both, I imagine, would have a more difficult time than an EG due to the windshield being far less aerodynamic than the batwing. However, I have hit 115 several times on both bikes so I imagine it will hit 120 if I stay on the throttle long enough and catch a little break with the wind.
BTW, my 96" was stock with just slip-ons and dealer flash done to it. My 103" has the full stage 1 done.
115 mph on a bagger is plenty fast for me and something I don't like to try very often. One small mishap (tire going flat comes to mind) and it's all over 'cept for the fat lady singing (at the church/funeral service).
