2010 Road King Serious Electrical Problems
As soon as I put the hot lead on the batt, I heard a whirring sound. I believe it's the fuel pump. Disconnect it stops. Also pulled main fuse, light & head light fuse & cleaned all & replaced. Still does the same when connecting the hot lead.
Also the blue high beam light indicator lights up, yet the switch is in the low beam position. When you switch it to high beam, the blue light goes out.
Headlight lights when battery is connected but engine will not turn over, nor will the starter turn over.
Problem was, I left it in the weather for nearly the whole month of December. I am a professional Santa Claus & had events nearly everyday & could not ride. About 2 weeks into December I did start the bike & knew the battery was very weak. I let it run for a few minutes & then switched it off.
Do that on all the visible plugs and connectors.
possible the "system" relay is stuck
there are 3 relays all teh same spec- try swapping teh system with teh brake light relay...try swapping the starter relay.
see if that changes anything
clean all your fuses:

In an environment where it is cold and the temp varies you will trap moisture under the tarp and the elec. connections will corrode causing things like poor/nonexistent connections; poor ground etc.
I realize you may be stuck with no good storage, but be aware the tarp may be part of the problem and removing it during good weather will help.
As others have said, go thru the connections and clean/apply dielcetric grease which will cut down on the corrosion ... cheers
MIKE,i have a question for you.
When you use dialetric grease on electrical connectors do you just use it where the connectors meet/join to keep moisture out and not on the actual metal spades/terminals connect or do you also load up the actual spades/terminals that connect to eachother with the dialectric grease too along with using it where the connectors join/seat/seal?

DG can seal moisture out...but also seal moisture in.
and be messy.
it works really well at the seals at the connectors to keep them from "glueing" themselves, so the connector is easy to open.
on the wire pins, i use scotchbrite or a nic-sand pen ( fiberglass fibers- radio shack or auto body supply) to physically remove any corrosion, dirt or gunk.
follow up with a plastic safe ( read the label) contact cleaner spray- deoxit, cramolin, blue shower

Mike,thanks for advice,i appreciate it!

I've removed the shroud over the ignition switch & checked the connection, it is tight & no corrosion on the terminals.
Starting to pull what little hair I've got left.......
