Dropped it!
ORIGINAL: kar
Hi Mike,
Sorry to hear you dropped the bike, but very glad to hear that you and your daughter are OK, and that the damage was minimal. I'll have to remember the "tilt" reset so if ( and when) I drop mine, I'll know how to reset it. Very nice of the guy in the SUV to help you right it.
BTW, how do you like having stock pipes back on? Plan on doing mine this weekend.
You call your Bike "Blackie", I call mine "Visitation". That way when the pastor calls and I am out riding, my wife can truthfully tell him "Ken is out on visitation!" Keeps me in his good graces.
Have a great one, and be careful out there.
Ken

I think the torgue is about the same as with the Kerkers. And the Radio doesnt have to be turned up nearly as loud.
I hope all goes well with your changeout.
Mikeeeeeeeeeeeee
Glad your okay,I dropped my RK a 40 mph and she was totalled. Luckily she threw me about 10 feet before she started flippen. Just watched the insurance compant take her away.
like most every1 here ive dropped my bike on more than one occasion all the way up from my heritage to my current SE...this mother is heavy. i am telling you this bike must weigh 900 lbs with a full tank and all the extras...i thought i was going to pop a nut picking it up....but the adrenaline was pumping....she stood right up for me.
I haven't dropped my own yet, but I've dropped the departments RK numerous times (in training). It really helps you know where your limits are. I would suggest anyone taking an advanced riders course no matter how long you have been riding. I was amazed at the things they teach you and what a RK can do after taking the Northwestern University/Harley Davidson Police Motorcycle training course. That course is 2 weeks 8hrs a day in the saddle. Think of hoping on the RK, locking the handlebars to one side and leaning till the floorboards scrape doing circles or 8's.
Yep - - Welcome to the dropped club- Glad to hear it was a slow drop, and that ya'll were okay...
I dropped my glide in a parking lot, making a tight right turn too...the right footboard folded up (which I just stood on to push it back down), and I scuffed my Kuryakyn stirrups that are mounted on the engine guard...other than that...no damage...the best part was - --Nobody was watching, as we were right in front of a Ruby Tuesdays- -even better, the couple I was riding with (two up on an FHLT) only saw me sitting on it sideways as I righted the thing -- they simply came up and asked - -What the F*&$ are you doing?

I came real close to dropping mine on Sunday. I stopped in a gas station and filled up, went to leave and as I came rolling to the edge of the road way I looked to make sure it was clear. I let out the clutch and it stalled. Next thing I know it was trying to go down toward the right but was still moving and trying to turn over the engine. At least thats what I think was going on as it happened so fast. I was holding it up and doing a dance with my right foot as it was moving forward. Still don't know if it stalled or I stalled it if you know what I mean. Oh well, came close. Glad to hear you didn't hurt anything including yourself and daughter.

Well its a good news bad news story..
the good news.. you and your daughter are okay.. that is great news..
the good news.. you dropped your bike and got it back up..that is good..
the bad news.. you dropped the bike..
I did it with my wife on the back last month.. scared her.. which scared me.. it was a u turn on a slope in gravel.. kind of dumb on my part to do it.. but it was such a low speed zero damage I held it on the way down.. we just kind of stepped off..
I think TC sent the link of how to pick one up by yourself.. You need to know how to do it..
glad your safe..

It happens, dont worry about it. Ive yet to drop my R.K. (looking for wood to knock on), But I did drop my springer twice, both times on wet grass. However, I had the most embarasing thing happen a few weeks ago, I backed the wifes 883 custom out of the shed (with many people watching of course) and suddenly my foot slipped out from under me and me and the bike both tumbled. I felt like a real moron. I ride a r.k. and I tip over a little 883. My wife has never even dropped it ( looking for more wood). Still not living it down.
So glad to hear others have dropped their bikes even with the missus on! Idropped it while I was riding solo. I don;t plan to drop it again, but it gives me a good feeling to know that even the best of them will drop one from time to time!
