Fender Differences
thanks,
differences in fenders are the trim, marker lights and badgers ( each of which may have different mounting holes), not the dimensions, shape or material
popular fender swaps are the HD streetstalker or Fatboy fender on a Roadking- these need billet adapter blocks- the FB may interfere with the crash bar if you want to use one.
for a rear fender 2008 and earlier back to about 82.
again badges, marker lights trim change...and this also means holes.
for a true custom, you want to mount it all up- and mark any extra holes...you can then have the holes filled and paint done.
some riders also drill new mounting holes higher up on the fender so that it sits lower on the tire..and again fill the old holes.
the 2009+ frame has a wider rear section, wider rear fender. that is why you are seeing that exclusion on the cvo
welcome to the forums
Mike
* I just had to look something up and see that some 2014 ( new front end) models use a 2012 ( old front end) part number for the fender...so I guess 1978 to 2015...

the 2 digits after the hyphen in most HD part numbers indicates the year the part was introduced.

click on OEM
then select year
model
assembly
Also get a couple of catalogs from drag and other aftermarket parts suppliers, go through them and dog ear some pages.

Other changes made to fenders are the light fittings, including fender-tip lights, which are not interchangeable over extended model years, possibly changed as above. On more recent bikes wiring for the rear lights all come together inside the central rear light.
A front fender off a '12 may fit your '03, but as Mike suggested, check part numbers, especially for the fender light. By coincidence I have an '03 front fender on my '90 Glide, which bolted straight up to the forks, but tripped me up on that fender light. I also have an '08 rear fender, but that is a long story!
