i need to modify my drivers back rest. i searched and found several good suggestions, but how do you get the backrest cover off without tearing it up?

On my Corbin you remove the seat, then underneath there is a phillips screw that holds the backrest bracket...loosen and pull out the backrest... No matter what seat, you probably need to pull the seat and turn it upside down to see what type braket it has....[X(]

Why do you need to remove the cover?
A lot of us had to bend the metal rods back a few degrees. You don't need to remove the cover for that.
