Default Shinko 777

I purchased these tires and they have a bad wobble at 75mph. Got it balanced at 3 different shops which cost me $60 bucks. Not worth the headache to purchase so don't waste your money. Stay with the Dunlaps. I have put 2500 miles on the tires but it is not worth your safety.

This is a true and honest assessment of the quality of the product.

=============

I had the same but opposite experience with Dunlop vs Shinko

I had a good exp with shinkos, had 3 sets of them on my last bike over approx 25k miles and they were great having no problems at all & cruise at 80mph at time long distance,no issues at all.

Prior bike i had the shinkos on was pretty heavy too,it was an 06 Yamhaha Roadstar Silverado 1700 v-twin that was approx 825-830lbs all bags loaded /full tank/etc on top of riding 2up and no issue with shinkos at all.

Rear tire always wore out before the front ,but i replaced both as a set each time because they were not expensive.

I used ride-on in all 3 sets of those tires to balance them and will use it in the Mich-2's too.

For the money they were good tires, either you unfortuantely got 1 of a few defective shinko tires or the shop thats been balancing the tires is goofing up or damaged the front tire when installing it.

Its funny, what got me to try Shinkos in the 1st place was when i got my prior bike i had new dunlops put on it and all the sudden the bike handled strange with front wandering at times in corners almost like it was ice and balance was checked 2x,it was real spooky & unsafe at times.

Bike only had 6k miles on it and front end /wheels/bearings/rear tries etc all checked out ok.

Ran those tires 500 miles and had to swap them out because it was unsafe so shop had shinkos & i tried them and stuck with them for last 3 tire changes with great results every time.

Dunlop rep for the area would not stand behind their tires that were obviously an issue so i had to eat the cost of those tires & wont touch dunlops for my bike or my car anymore.

But when i replace the tires in the spring on my current bike / 09 FLHTCU i am going to try Mich comander 2's that cost more but supposedly last longer too , so time /miles will tell on that one.

I ran a 777 on my Honda shadow and loved it, awesome grip, excellent handling in rain, and ride very nice. But it did wear fast. Had it over 100mph with zero problems. Heck even the shop owner that put the tire on my bike had a set of Shinkos on his wife's gsxr.

You also don't give us much info on your bike. Easy to point at a tire and scream problems when something that may not be tire related is causing the problem. Have you tried contacting Shinko and looking for other problems with your bike?

Bike rode excellent until I replaced the tires. The only change that was made is the tire.

i run them with no problems. They stick to the road like glue and feel great at all speeds.

I have Shinko SR777 on front and back of my 09 Ultra, LOVE them and have used them for years. I think they are better tires than Dunlop's. Plus i paid $122.00 for the rear and $100.00 for the front. At HD they wanted $750 for front and back for Dunlop's. They can eat sh**!! I got 12000 miles out of my last rear Shinko's. JMHO, Shinko's, for the money are way better than Dunlop's.

I have run a bunch of Shinkos. Love them. Probably be what i swap on when i do my Wide White Walls. No complaints about the Dunnys, but love Shinkos as well. They don't last as long, but are cheap enough to justify the purchase. Never had a wobble of any kind caused by a Shinko either.

Question for my understanding. If it were out of round, shouldn't I be able to notice it before 70mph. I have no experience with out of round tires. Most of the suggestions from other riders was put 40psi instead of the recommended 36psi

A friend of mine had a lc1500 that.had a out of round tire and didn't feel it until at highway speeds. Thought it was a balance problem only for the shop to show him on the balancer machine it was actually out of round. You could see it looking like it was bouncing when it was spun on machine. I'd say he got a bad tire which happens to all manufacturers at one time or another.
