Messed up the threads on my slip on pipes. What size tap do I need to fix it.
road king slip on.

Threads on what the end cap?
The 3.5" end caps used 1/4 - 20 threads, not sure about the 4" Mufflers.

I love it when someone comes on here and wants some information on how to fix something that they buggered up without telling you just exactly what it is they need help with. Outstanding!

You did not make clear which threads you messed up? Hanger bolt threads, end cap threads, clamp threads? Hanger bolt threads are 1/4 x 20. Are the mufflers stock, SE, or aftermarket?

What mufflers do you have and where is this thread - the part that clamps? What diameter is the screw that should fit and how many threads per inch? We can get there, but only with a bit more help!

Agree...they do an internet search, HDForums is on top of search list, join, ask vague question & bolt. Maybe we need to start charging for maint questions (e.g. bitcoins)...that might cut it down, maybe.

I don't mind lending a hand, or supplying advice...just wish these fly-by posters were better at details too.

I usually tap them with a 2 lb hammer and a block of wood.
