I just recently replaced my stereo on my ultra with a complete kit from biketronics. Sony head unit with bluetooth, amp, 7.1 speakers in the fairing and new rear pods with7.1's in them with the handlebar remote kit. All plug and play and a lifetime warranty, except for the sony which has a 3 year warranty. Took just under 3 hours from start to finish. Sounds awesome. great customer service and they give a discount for forum members. Oh yeah , and no cutting of any wires, just had to run a power wire for amp and new wires back to the new pods. Was just over in the audio section and they are working on a deal with Bill at Biketronics on some group pricing for members. Would be worth a look , might be able to stretch your$$$ a little bit if you are maybe going with them.

+1 for biketronics Sony, Alpine, Kenwood all great head units and biketronics and Hawg-Wired both have modules that let you retain handlebar controls.

Default Hog Tunes

After a LOT of research it came down to 2 companies.

HOG TUNES http://www.hogtunes.com/ won out. And BOY am I HAPPY!!!

The quality is EXCELLENT!!

It stood up to time rain or shine and believe me it gets BOTH.

They are VERY knowledgeable.

Get this my friend, when I told them I was riding up from S. Florida 1 to 1 1/2 hrs north of Toronto, they said the would send the unit to me. I said no way!

No way are they taking a terrific ride away from me. So, since I went up there, they not only gave me a really nice discount but they (right there at their factory) they let me watch them install it as they explained what they were doing.

GREAT GREAT GREAT and VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE folks!

That not good 'nuff for you mate? Then get this, when I was in an accident a something broke with the stereo. Hog Tunes got on the horn with HD and spent quite a while trying to debug fix it so they will not have to sell me another one.

Not good enough yet? Well, they got it all working except for the cone of 1 speaker that was badly cracked. So they sent me another one discounted. Discounted man after everything they did.

Between their product being EXCELLENT (and I listen to it literally 365 days a year) and they know what they are doing and they SUPPORT what they sell..........I can't say enough good stuff about them.

If u r around S. Florida, u can listen to them anytime mate.

Edit Part: It just so happened THIS was the ride back home where I rode from Barre just north of Toronto, Canada to Pompano Beach, Florida right through the night riding 1,501 miles as I came through Palm Beach County in 24 hrs and logged a bit more by the time I got to Pompano Beach. An IBA "Extreme" ride (Bun Burner Gold aka BBG) 1 of the BEST, BEST, BEST rides I ever had in all my years!!! I recommend ANY of the IBA rides........Whoooo Hoooooo...........

Anyone know if you can replace the stock 5.25" fairing speakers with 6.5" (Polks) in a 2005 Ultra using 5.25 to 6.5 adapter rings???

I replaced a standard car stereo with this and love it. With the adaptor, you retain the handlebar controls.

HARLEY TOURING MARINE KENWOOD KMR-D562BT CD BLUETOOTH RADIO STEREO ADAPTER KIT

Sorry forgot to mention it was on a 06 Electra Glide Standard

I got the exact same combo pack from Amazon (Kenwood HU and Axxiss handlebar control module). Should be delivered anyday. Did you have any problems installing/connecting the handlebar control module?

iron cross audio will sell you an mildly upgraded version of the stock head unit (theyll add bluetooth, preamp outputs, etc)

jensen makes a custom unit for HD bikes that looks stockish, has bluetooth, ipod, etc. but its expensive

Biketronics will sell you a kit to use any standard car stereo HU, with an adapter kit so you can still use your handlebar controls.

I have the Biketronics kit with the Sony head unit and Titan II speakers, the head unit has a detachable face and is a Marine version with the pocket for a phone or music storage device. After some time the volume **** stopped working.. Then the head unit display became intermittent due to the pin contacts, so sometimes the display is readable and sometimes it doesn't look like a strobe light in your face at night... The tunes still play from the onboard USB drive with my MP3's and the handlebar controls work like a champ. Having a hard wired faceplate would eliminate the bad faceplate contacts, but haven't seen one yet.
