Default Minimum/maximum baffel size

I have searched high and low and was wondering is there a minimum or maximum baffle size recommended for a 2014 flhtk Running a stock tune? I am looking at changing out just the mufflers for now until the wallet gets a little fatter and get a tuner.

Most dyno tuners will tell you to not go over 2.25". At 2.5 you start losing bottom end torque. Steve @ Fullsac performance recommends 2" for the best tune. I have his 2.25" power cores in stock CVO cans. They reacted very well with a TTS tune on the dyno. Sounds great too IMO. http://fullsac.com/product/2006-2015-cvo-power-core/

the reason(s) being that a narrower core has more velocity for the exhaust gasses.

and wider may have less velocity, less restriction

exhaust systems are a compromise and the work best with the characteristics of the motor "about" 2" is better for most motors, most conditions.

if you choose wisely, you can start with mufflers which will still work if you change headers, intake, cams, displacement, headwork etc.

a poor choice gets you chrome piling up in the garden shed.

so before you start spending, figure out a system approach and add part incrementally as finds allow.

determine your desired result- for some riders it is power, for others sound.

some of the Guys here have spent thousands on 2 or 3 or even 4 sets of exhaust for their rides

With stock head pipes the cat provides a lot of back pressure.
We recommend the 3.00" or 2.50" baffles.

If you had an 09 with stock headers and no cat we'd recommend the 2.00" or 2.25" baffles.
