I watch them all. OCC bikes never appealed to me, but I like watching them build the bikes. Vinny and Rick rock. I watch American Thunder, Corbins Ride On, Build or Bust, Biker build off, and vtwin. I have tivo and just do searches for motorcycles, harley, hells angelsor sturgis. Any keywordI think may have a cycle in it. I love to watch them. Even the ones I have seen a dozen times. I don't care if the 'fad' is dying. I ride, and I enjoy anything on two wheels with a motor. Love reading any mags I can get my hands on. The wife hates it all. Have parts catalogs all over the place. I am on this forum every night and ebay as well.I am fully emersed (sp)in it. Always have been. But since buying my first harley. It has become an obsession with me. I can't get enough of it.
I kinda miss Southern Steel. (Milwaukee Iron) I think they pretty much stopped filming when Gary passed away. That dewd was great bike builder. Alot of folks forget about him. http://www.milwaukeeiron.com/item.as...mp;Backlink=No
Man , Gary at Milwaukee Iron, was one salty looking guy. Old school, even if he wasn't that old (only in his 60's I believe). I was really bummed when I watched their last episode and saw that he had passed. Not many have the skills he had. Now it seems pcs are used more than human touch. A real shame.
You all are right, Gary at Milwauhee Iron was a great bike builder... I had been away from the USA for 18 months, and had not realized that Gary had passed on. Sorry to hear that. A real bike builder and craftman of the old school.....
All those show where great .. gave us something to watch in the winter months up here ..another show that was prettu good was a series with Ewan Mcgregor and Charley Boorman called the Long Way Round ...they rode from London to New York ... through ukraine - kazakhstan - mongolia - russia - canada and finally the states ...20000 miles all together
Up here we also have - BikerTv ...show about canadian bikers
Syd's cycle show - Show made in Montreal about the bike scene here
Motorcycle experience - bike reviews and rides
Your'e right there seem to be less and less shows of this kind on the boobtube ...its great that these shows brought more people to biking .. but a lot of them wont ride for more than 3 years or at least thats what I read on a survey that was done to see how long the average motorcyclist stays in the fold .. ;-)) In the last few years I have seen so many more bikes on the road and have spoken to so many bikers heres that had been riding for less than 2 years ...and had bikes worth $40k with every chrome pĂŽece they could find ..and only a few hundred miles on their bikes ..
Up here in Quebec ..we used to pay $325.00 for our plates the gov. decided that biker are costing the medical system too much .. so in the next 3 years the plates will go up to well over $800.00 a year .. makes it a bit difficult to have more than 1 bike .. IMHO with the fad slowly fading and the plates going up .. theres going to be some nice bikes for sales cheap in the near future ... ;-))
With TV, it's all about ratings. If the show starts losing viewers, the sponsors begin to look for greener pastures. I think the whole chopper building craze has passed it's peak. Not many of us could afford one of those customs and probably would'nt bother even if we had the bucks, yet we all enjoyed watching. I must admit, I've enjoyed all of the shows mentioned in this thread, but enough is enough. What I would like to see are shows that deal with real world touring, off roadng, adventures, and anything that we could actually relate to as riders. There are a couple on now who's names I can't recall at the moment but I think you know what I mean. OCC was great until they started getting too dramatic with all the personal stuff. Leave the personal drama for Lifetime Channel.
Isn't the medical costs why they justify a lid law? All those in states looking to overturn their repeals, take heed. Bottom line is some people want motorcycles off the road, Period.
