ULTRA ELECTRA GLIDE ENGINE QUESTION

We are perplexed. We made a deposit on our HD Electra Glide Classic and bought it sight unseen. We waited 6 weeks and we finally got it in May and since this time, and 3000 miles later, it has been in the shop 5 times! For what, you ask? When the engine gets hot, there is a constant noise, like blowing in an empty pepsi liter bottle, a howling noise. Anyone encouter this type of issue? If so....help! A HD rep is now at the dealer to try and rectify this on-going problem. Any suggestions?

No suggestions, But, mine is about to turn 3000 and I hope its not something I get to look forward to.

My 05 Electra Glide Classic with fuel injection blows smoke when it gets hot. The dealer says thats a normal function of the lean running fuel injection. When hot the brain richens up the mixture to help "cool" down the motor. I dont know if thats the case or not, just throwing it out there for coment. Sorry to hear about your problems. All the money we spend for these petty things to deal with!!!!

I have a 04 Fatbay that makes a howling noise from the EFI. I think this is what you are talking about. Because mine is a softail and has no fairing it may be different but the motor is basiclly the same. I do here it more when I have the removable windscreen on. Hearing a hissing or howling sound is normal even on cars with EFI. Remember every bike has it's own sound although they are basiclly the same. I don't think you have a problem
