Default Refund on warranty?

Is it possible to get a refund on an extended warranty? I have a new 07 with less than 400 miles and I purchased a 2 year extended but methinks' the warranty will be useless in the longrun. Never bought one even for my cars/trucks since they lasted at least 3 years. Got caught up in all of that excitement when purchasing, this is the only add-onI question, everything else is solid.

Yes. The dealer told me I could cancel and get "pro-rated" refund at any time.

Thanks for bringing this up. I think I'm going to cancel mine. My bike is financed. Wonder if I'll have the discipline to pay the note down with the returned warranty funds.

i believe that if you have the bike financed, they will automatically return the refund to the financer. also, when they say pro-rated, they mean it. they start deducting from day 1. so if you bought a 2 year extended, bringing your total warranty to 4 years, but have had the bike a year, they will refund 75%. (at least that was what i was told when i was looking into cancelling the extended warranty on the wifes sportster when i paid it off early)

Great question. I have my 04 RK and went to run some numbers a month ago. Yes, on your very first sentence..., the rest will have to get some serious reading of the FINE PRINT. I read that you could get a refund at the end of the extended warrant IF you did not use it...so if you took all the hits on your wallet, and saved the warranty for if the day came it was a major issue, yes you could a refund if you never used it. Since I did not do a deal I will bow out to those who have a warranty in hand and let them read what other conditions apply on a refund.....

I paid about $1000 for my 2-year extended warranty. That's about $20/month for the 48 months, but the first two years are useless. I've had the bike for 1.5 months. Seems like an inexpensive correction to dump the warranty now assuming it really is fully pro-rated. ???

That what I'm thinking grinner, I purchased mine in January so not real hit. By next year I want to open my bike up and from what I hear from the more experienced riders, most of the stuff I want to do will void the warranty. So why give money away? MOCO gets enough of mine already!!

Doc, you can get a partial refund. The 2 year extension is written as a 4 year warranty regardless of how few miles or months had passed. 2 things to consider, are you mechanically inclined enough to deal with anything after the 2 years? Or do you know a good indy? Above and beyond, is this ESP through Harley? Beware the independents, the last one I had was a pay-then-reimburse plan. But that's not how it was presented, since I bought the bike on the road, the selling dealer being able to deal direct was useless to me. Back to the 2 points, you may want to keep the warranty. Machines do break.Since you're eligible for a partial refund, not the full amount,is the amount worth the lack of the extra 2 year coverage?

I took out an extended warranty and later sold the bike. I phoned MOCO and requested a refund and got about half of what I paid and the bike was less than a year old? WTF?
