Default Footboard Issue

Hopefully one of you guys can help me with this one. I swapped out my "traditional" shaped rider Footboards for the Swept version. Everything bolted up with no problems except the one on the shifter side is not flat. Not sure how to explain, but the one on the brake side is perfectly horizontal when the bike is standing straight up. The other one is tilted up on the outside. First of all it looks a bit weird and it is not that comfortable. I know the original ones did not do that. I can probably get some pics tonight if it will help.

Anyone have any clue how to adjust them. I have made sure they are resting all the way down on the support bracket.

thanks,

Lay down and look at the under side of the footboard as you raise and lower it to determine if and where it is hitting or being restricted from further movment..............BG

Should be the same unless your parts came from a 07, they are different on the shifter side from 06 and back.

I took a look under it and it looks like it rests on the rear support arm, and on the bottom of the footboard there is a small hole that I think it lines up with. I am just not sure how you would fix that? Do I look do make the hole bigger to give it more room to go down. I don't think I want to file down the rear support arm because it is all powder coated.

The powder coating could be your problem causing insufficient clearance.

That was my thought also, but the original ones were fine. So maybe I should compare the two. I would think I should try and modify the footboard pan before I mess with the bracket.

Take the stock footboard and turn it upside down. Take the swept version and turn it upside down and lay it next to the stock one. Something will be different between the two that is keeping the swept one from going all the way down without hitting the support arm...............BG

Had a simular issue with the Kurys I installed. Ended up the support bracket did not fit correctly by a small amount. I had to put it in the milling machine and take some material off. I used some clear coat over where I had to take some chrome off. Not a big deal since it doesn't show.

Maybe adding the spacers that a member here makes would solve your clearance issues. And besides that, it will move them out a bit to give you a bit more room...JMHO

SOOS sells the extension kit, and many member have added them and rave about them. May do the trick.
