Went to turn the bike on the first time with the pv installed and it wouldn't communicate with the ecm.. So my buddy cut the zip ties I had holding the connection to make sure it hooked in all the way.. Turns out I had the hand control switch off.. Get it all on and get the map flashed start it up and it's all good.. Let it run for 10 mins or so and shut it down.. The placement of the rear pipe on the cobra duals bothers me because it's really close to the frame under the seat.. So do the hell out it I go out there and hour later to see if I can adjust it anymore and I notice the brand new diagnostic plug is melted to the pipe.. Not enough to make it not work but enough to bother me.. Lol he helped me alot.. But damn that's a $24 plug connected to a $500 tuner.. I'm tempted to try to splice it.. Its only 4 wires it I recall correctly.. Can't be mad at him tho I got more than 24 bucks worth of work out of him.. I also found a crows foot to be the best damn way to get to the lower rear flange bolt
Unplug it and put some good heavy shrink wrap on and slide it up the wires then plug it back together and slide the shrink wrap down over the plug and heat with a heat gun then zip tie it up out of the way.
It's all part of the journey and what fun is it if we didn't learn along the way. Nice having friends who share in your hobbies and sometimes little things like this are discovered. I bet next time you both check the hot spots & wiring to ensure nothing's going to melt, right?
