I think of what's important, after all of my regular bills are paid I take a look at what's left. Then it's would I rather spend on lot's of beer and food or a nice bike. The bike wins out every time! I have worked a modest job most of my life. I just look at what is important to me. Keep the debt down and work at it. As long as you are on two wheels it really doesn't matter!

My strategy has been save the first 10% of every deposit we make and have done that for going on 30 years. Being self employed its saved my butt countless times having that money to bail us out when things went south.

At the same time when I need to buy something I have the option of borrowing from me or getting the best rates on loans because I can just as easy use mine banks like that. You have a lot more stroke when you can write the check.

I was a firefighter in major FD in the mid 90s. I have never seen a FF who didn't have at least one part time job.

Its all about priorities, and you seem to have yours in order. Ride that 06, work when you can, and most importantly spend time with those kid(s). They are only kids for a very short period of time.

I have a real crap car. I see people buying big expensive SUVs and just don't get it. I'd rather spend money on a sweet bike and ride a junker when it rains or snows.

We all have our priorities when it comes to transportation. The people that buy big expensive SUV's, trucks and Cars could give 2 $hits about a motorcycle. I'm fortunate to have a company vehicle so I only need 1 personal vehicle and can afford a nice one since I only need one. My bike is a toy, not a necessity, like most others on here.

I sold my new GMC Sierra and bought a 2005 model instead. That cut my truck payment in half. Then I traded in a paid off bike. I'm single, no kids, never married so that helps too I guess.

All I know, is i'll be glad when it's paid off

Where there's a will, theres a way.

I'm a retired firefighter and my wife is also retired. She had a better paying job than I did too. I have found that if you want something bad enough you will find a way to make it happen.

I built 2 choppers ($60k between them), had the big house, GT500 Mustang, 2 BMWs and paid for higher education for 3 kids (still paying for them actually) and managed to buy that CVO recently. We have never missed a meal either. It can be done.

Had a neighbor years ago asked why I drove a beat up old car when he knew I was the top wage earner on our cul de sac. Told him, so I could afford the important stuff. I like legroom and air conditioning, but you can get that for a tenth the price of most of these new cages if you don't care what it looks like.
