I recently bought OEM hard bags with lids. I also ordered an after market latch kit. The lids and bags have no pre drilled holes for the after market latch kit I also purchased. Can anyone advise what type of task I have ahead of me? I have to get the items painted, installing the latch kit is that something I can ask the painter to install? Is it a hard job? I NEED ADVICE!!!
I would drill it and fit them before it gets painted.
Sorry if I am stating the obvious. Assuming the new latches are designed to fit in the existing HD holes, can you borrow someones stock bag and latch for reference or templet making?
just a heads up most of the latch guys send templates with the latch and hardware kit. As mentioned I would wait till they came in and see whats included and go from there
I received the latches with no instructions. if I had instructions I wouldn't be here asking how to? I appreciate all the positive responses.
You're not giving us much to work with! I would expect any Harley bags to come pre-drilled for latches etc. If yours have no holes drilled in them that begs the question - are they genuinely stock? As for the aftermarket latches you have, what brand are they? I expect they are intended to fit pre-drilled cases, which is why they have no instructions. Contact the supplier to get some guidance on what they are designed to fit.
