Be real careful using Craigslist ... a lot of scams, thieves and thugs prowl the adds looking for easy pickings. NEVER INVITE ANYONE TO YOUR HOME TO SEE IT. Always pick a public place to meet ... a local police station is always a good bet. Good Luck with the sale and sorry to see you're putting yourself " out to pasture" :>(
I know what you mean. I got the garage doors Saturday from someone on Craigslist. It was kind of funny. I had my Glock on me because the guy would not give me a address, just more directions as I went and that made me nervous. He was being very cautious because he did not know me. We both got a laugh after we realized we were ok, but both were armed with Glocks.
Another problem is what if someone wants to do a test drive? Hope they can drive a HD and belter still, bring it back?

NO TEST RIDES! Start it up, YOU take it for a ride with him following in his vehicle. Accept cash only. No checks period! Have someone else with you when you meet the prospective buyer.
I have an 09 Ultra with ABS, cruise, security etc, and 49000 miles. When looking at a new 2015, was told between 8-9K on trade in on new one. That was in December. Newer bike, less miles, and ABS, for less.

Dealer never gives much for trade in. Car, trucks, or bikes. What do you think if you traded they would have asked for it?? Not looking to trade, just sell. Thanks for the reply
No test rides till you have all cash in hand. Be careful I would make sure I had back up. Maybe if no offers work up a trade for something you want tractor, car or something.

This is the truth. Looked at the trade in vs retail for my 13 street glide. 15,500 vs 18,500. Lol. Only benefit of trade in is paying less taxes in my opinion.
That sounds about what about what I thought on the money. what is the best and safest venue to sell it?
Thanks again
I have sold bikes on crags list most of the time.
They come to my house but only before I know they are not tire kickers.
I tell them to have cash or a bank check. No test rides unless the have cash.
Most of the time I will have someone with me too, I will have a gun on my person. Sometimes you can figure out who they are at that point maybe a test ride I will check to see if the have a drivers license's with MC endorsement, After that's what insurance is for. I should say email and texts are a good start but at some point you will need to have a phone conversation. This is very important because now you have there number. As far as quitting riding at 65you should be just starting to put miles on your bike, Im 67 and going strong and ride with guys as old 87 just saying.
So what does turning 65 have to do with selling your ride?
Retiring on limited income. insurance and tags 600 yr. Oil changes $10 qt. Tires expensive. If you do the scheduled maintenance , and I do, it gets expensive . So I'm not sure I can justify the expense.
