Default Because we need another exhaust thread...

I am doing a stage 1 upgrade on my 2014 SGS. Heavy breather, tuner, headpipe and slip-ons. Problem is I'm conflicted between two options:

1. Vance & Hines Power Duals with Vance & Hines OS 450
2. D&D Fat Cat 2 into 1

At idle, I'm looking for a deep rumble, like a big block. I want some noise on acceleration but don't want it annoying at cruising speeds. I've been able to hear several Fat Cat systems, but nothing with the OS450 or High Output (which I've been told is similar sound to the OS450)... only Monster Rounds and Monster Ovals with the Power Duals.

I'm also wondering if when riding down the road with a 2/1 setup does the sound being concentrated on one side rattle your hearing differently than it coming out two pipes?

The price difference is only a few hundred dollars once I add the ghost pipe to the D&D setup. The shop said I should get the same performance numbers out of both setups.

Please give me your thoughts if you have any experience with the either solution, and especially if you have experience with both.

You might holler at DannyZ71, as he's got the VH Power Duals and HO muffs; sounds damn good.
I've had a 2-1, not a D&D, but the Dragula from Frank Drago on my Heritage Softail. Loved the way it sounded. Will probably go back to a 2-1 at some point. I didn't hang a fake muffler off the other side though...

Fat Cat is the crappiest sounding pipe I ever had the misfortune of purchasing.

A very tinny sound with crackling off throttle. Think Honda Civic with a fart can exhaust. The bottom end of the tq curve was nothing to wright home about either.

If you ride in the 4-5k rpm range all the time and like loud douchey pipes, it just may be the pipe you're looking for.

Thanks hdgzr. I'll check with Danny.

I hear a lot about CFRs, but I've never seen them in person.

If you liked the Dragula on the soft tail you will really like the Dragula 2 , it has a deeper sound than the old one imho ! Not loud at cruise either.

I know it wasn't one of your original options, but I can't agree more with this statement. I have them and I love them. What attracted me to them was the muscle car rumble. I was sold after hearing them online, in addition, one of my local dealerships had them on a floor bike and I was able to hear them in person. That having been said, there are some who will say they are too loud. Take it for what it's worth.

Good luck in your search.

I had the Fat Cat as well and had the same issue. Sounds very tinney at highway cruising speed and drove me crazy. I sold it and went with the V&H Pro Pipe and without any fake pipe and absolutely love it.

Just put on the Pro pipe, did not go D&D as I had one on my flstf and it was a tin-ish raspy sound that i did not like.
The pro pipe seems to be fine.
